Agent Phil Coulson, now the embodiment of Death in the Marvel Universe, Spider-Man’s body was stretched and compressed on an atomic level as it was pulled into the gravity well of Cyntros’ black hole. Previously, it was Strange’s responsibility to vanquish the Scions whenever he summoned the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak, but later, Doom coerced Strange into relinquishing the title of Sorcerer Supreme. Doom disclosed that Earth’s former Sorcerer Supreme had been studying the Darkhold when he encountered the Crimson Casket of Cyttorak, a powerful artifact ruled by the cosmic being, Cyttorak. The Crimson Casket was vital for shielding Earth from extraterrestrial perils, so Strange struck a deal with Cyttorok and a pact was formed. In return for allowing the Casket to safeguard the Earthrealm, the Sorcerer Supreme pledged to eliminate the eight Scions of Cyttorak who sought to claim their father’s throne. Aware of the longstanding rivalry between Cyttorok and Raggadorr, Strange employed the Reeds of Raggadorr to ensure his revival after each death at the hands of the Scions.
Marvel’s February 2025 lineup shows that the eighth and final Death of Spider-Man will feature a crossover with a new X-Men team, featuring Juggernaut as Cyttorak’s avatar. In issue #68 of Amazing Spider-Man, Spidey will use up his last life… and in the same series, it’s revealed that the X-Men must act swiftly to revive a deceased Spider-Man before Victor von Doom takes over in One World Under Doom.
