Stalker 2 Gets First Patch Notes Fixing Game Breaking Bugs and More

As a seasoned gamer and fan of the Stalker series, I must say that my excitement for Stalker 2 has been tinged with anticipation and trepidation. After following its development journey for over a decade, it’s finally here, amidst all the challenges faced by GSC World, including the war in Ukraine and various setbacks.

Stalker 2 unveiled its first update which aims to rectify several issues that have been disrupting gameplay. Notably, this highly anticipated title is one of the significant releases slated for 2024 and an exclusive offering on Xbox. The game has been under development in different stages for approximately 15 years, causing quite a stir among fans worldwide. There were moments when it seemed doubtful that it would ever come to fruition; however, this month marked its long-awaited arrival after overcoming numerous obstacles.

In addition to typical development hurdles, the team behind Stalker 2, GSC World, is based in Ukraine, which put them right in the heart of a warzone. Consequently, some members of the staff were called to active military duty against Russia. To make matters worse, their office caught fire and they were also hacked, with playable builds being leaked prematurely. These events significantly contributed to the game’s delay for several years. However, it is now finally available to the public.

Although many players are enjoying Stalker 2 and it has surpassed the million-copy mark in sales, the game’s performance is quite glitchy. This isn’t unusual for this series, but with Xbox’s marketing efforts and its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass, it has left some gamers seeking a satisfying new RPG feeling frustrated, especially given its substantial file size. Fortunately, GSC World is diligently working to resolve various problems like bugs that hinder progress in the main quest, NPCs getting stuck on objects, crashes, and numerous other issues. The developer has also acknowledged and addressed concerns about control dead zones that won’t be resolved until a future update. The upcoming Stalker 2 patch is expected to roll out within the next week, although GSC World has not specified an exact date yet.
