As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can say that the news about Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Platinum trophy being too challenging for some players resonates deeply with me. I remember the days when trophies were more about fun and exploration than grinding for hours on end.
In a recent interview, the director of “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” has acknowledged a small oversight in the game’s design that won’t be repeated in the upcoming installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. The reception for “Rebirth” has been overwhelmingly positive, with critics and fans alike praising its quality. On Metacritic, it currently holds an impressive 92/100 rating, placing it among the top-rated games of 2024. However, there was a specific aspect in the open-world RPG that disappointed some players on PS5, and this is an issue that the game’s director acknowledges and intends to address in future releases.
In an interview with Daily Star, Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, admitted that the game’s Platinum trophy on PS5 was excessively challenging to obtain. Gamers who are dedicated trophy collectors in the PlayStation community found Rebirth to be criticized for the lengthy time it took to unlock the Platinum trophy. Not only was the time required to earn the Platinum trophy significant, but some of the related trophies demanded a considerable amount of repetitive grinding, making the process tedious. Hamaguchi appears to share this viewpoint as he stated that the Platinum trophy in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3, which will eventually be released, won’t be nearly as difficult.
Hamaguchi admitted, “There’s one more point I should address – a mistake I made in the past that I’ve already apologized for: making it challenging to earn the Platinum trophy. To set your mind at ease, I’ve learned from this experience and will ensure future Platinum trophies are not as difficult to achieve.
At present, Hamaguchi along with Square Enix team members haven’t shared much information about “Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3” beyond confirming that it will wrap up the Final Fantasy trilogy. As of now, there’s no official release window or title for the game.
It’s promising to see Square Enix pushing hard to release Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 quicker than later. In line with this, they’ve also clarified that they won’t be launching DLC for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, choosing instead to concentrate their efforts on the upcoming sequel in the series.
