Although the series has gradually shifted its emphasis towards action RPG elements, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows promises to bring stealth back to the forefront, particularly with Naoe, one of the game’s two main characters.
In a recently unveiled summary, Ubisoft has shared insights about the stealth features in “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, with a significant emphasis on unique tools and skills that belong to Naoe. Additionally, they have provided information regarding enemy AI and how adversaries will behave during stealth sequences.
Frequently, players might encounter structures labeled as Castles or Fortresses, these are robustly guarded zones where you’ll likely face numerous adversaries. These fortified regions are split into several distinct sectors, enabling players to transition between areas smoothly, exiting and re-entering stealth mode fluidly.
If such a situation arises, when adversaries begin tracking you down, they’re likely to employ strategies tailored to neutralize distinct threats. For example, they may operate in pairs, keeping an eye on each other, which means that whistling to lure them into ambush spots and eliminating them one by one will no longer be feasible, and could even arouse their suspicions instead.
In the course of the game, certain opponents may have the ability to prevent your assassination attempts, based on how much effort you’ve put into enhancing that skill. As you encounter an enemy, a white indicator suggests an immediate kill, a yellow one means you’ll inflict some damage, while a red one implies no damage at all. To maximize the number of instant kills, it’s essential to continually upgrade your assassination skills.
Remarkably, the game offers a menu option that enables players to swiftly eliminate all opponents with assassination moves.
In the game “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, you can expect to encounter new kinds of adversaries that will present distinct challenges during stealth phases. For example, there are non-lethal enemies called Servants, who move along specific paths, and their specialty is raising alarms and summoning backup when they spot you.
Additionally, there’s a formidable class of adversaries known as Samurai, who are both highly lethal and elite. They possess an uncanny ability to evade assassinations, they can’t be targeted in smoke, they can cut through bushes where you could potentially hide, and overall, they are less likely to succumb to the deceptions that you may employ against them.
