Elton John Shares He's Lost Vision in His Right Eye After Infection

As I delve into the captivating world of Elton John, a veritable treasure trove of musical genius and personal resilience unfolds before my eyes. His life story is as vibrant and colorful as his legendary outfits, filled with high notes of success and low points of struggle that have shaped him into the icon he is today.

Elton John‘s still standing despite some recent health struggles.

After acknowledging that it had been some time since he last engaged in any activity, the artist famously known as “Tiny Dancer” disclosed that he has been grappling with issues related to his eyesight.

On Good Morning America, spoken with Robin Roberts on November 25th, Elton shared that he has been blind in his right eye since July. This is due to an infection he contracted in the South of France, and it has already been four months since he lost his sight.

77-year-old Elton John, who is married to David Furnish and shares sons Zachary (13) and Elijah (11) with him, mentioned that his left eye isn’t in the best condition. Although he remains optimistic about a solution, his health issue has posed challenges when it comes to creating music.

As an ardent admirer, I confided, “Things appear promising and uplifting, yet I find myself in a bit of a jam at present. You see, I can engage in activities like this interview, but stepping into the recording studio to create new music…it’s a mystery, as I can’t seem to conjure up a starting lyric.

Elton emphasized that we’re proactively working to improve things. Right now, my main focus is on that effort. Unfortunately, it’s never ideal when something like this occurs.

He stated, “It left me utterly stunned, and I can’t perceive or make sense of anything right now. I can’t comprehend texts, nor can I watch anything.

The artist behind “Cold Heart”, who is set to be featured in an upcoming Disney+ documentary titled “Elton John: Never Too Late“, directed by his spouse and R.J. Cutler, has expressed gratitude for the way his health challenges have helped him see things more clearly.

He was overflowing with gratitude. He considered himself incredibly fortunate, even the luckiest individual globally. He felt immense pride in the documentary he created, his sons, his self-perception, and his current circumstances. In truth, he believed himself to be both extremely blessed and deeply appreciative.

“I am an iron man,” Elton said, “because I’ve been through so much and come out the other side.”

Initially, the artist known as “Rocket Man” revealed in September that he was battling a serious eye issue, which turned out to be an infection.

On Instagram, he posted on September 3 that he is making progress, but the recovery is very gradual, and it may take a while before vision returns to the affected eye.

Elton has been peacefully resting at home during the summer, working on his healing and recovery. He’s optimistic about the progress he’s already achieved so far.
