As a longtime Marvel enthusiast with a particular fondness for the Black Panther and his exploits, I must say that the latest developments in Ultimate Black Panther have me thoroughly enthralled! The clash between T’Challa and Moon Knight has been an epic battle, filled with suspense and intrigue. The preview of issue #10 hints at a decisive victory for our hero, with one-half of Moon Knight falling to the mighty Black Panther.
In a different universe from Earth-616, known as the Ultimate Universe, it’s the Ultimate Black Panther who has brought down a Marvel deity. This Black Panther, T’Challa, is facing off against a combined force led by Moon Knight (Khonshu and Ra), in one of the initial titles launched in Marvel’s revamp of the Ultimate Universe. The battle between T’Challa and Wakanda, and the Moon Knight duo, has been grueling, but it seems like Black Panther is finally gaining the upper hand. Judging from a sneak peek at the next issue of Ultimate Black Panther, it appears that Black Panther might soon claim victory by defeating one half of Moon Knight.
In a new installment of Ultimate Black Panther #10, penned by Bryan Hill, Carlos Nieto, David Curiel, and lettered by VC’s Cory Petit, Marvel offers a sneak peek. The storyline finds Khonshu, a.k.a Moon Knight, dashing through narrow alleys in what appears to be a desperate escape. An unexpected blast propels him into a wall, and just as he collides, Black Panther makes his dramatic entry. “It appears that a god has tumbled,” Black Panther states, hinting at Khonshu’s divine nature. “Yet, can he muster the courage to rise again?” In response, Khonshu/Moon Knight generates an energy blade, seemingly inviting the impending battle. However, when Khonshu attempts to counterattack, Black Panther swiftly defeats him by piercing his chest with his retractable claws.
As Khonshu tumbles, a deep voice echoes, “You’ve served admirably,” to which Black Panther retorts, “I serve no one.” Thus, one-half of Moon Knight is knocked out, leaving Ra to handle the situation. Upcoming issues of Ultimate Black Panther hint at this encounter, an event fans have anticipated since the series debuted. Besides reshaping roles for existing characters in Wakanda, Ultimate Black Panther has also recently introduced a new Sorcerer Supreme.
Nonetheless, there remains uncertainty about who exactly is the Sorcerer Supreme. A hint suggesting Doctor Strange might not be the ultimate one lies in his being among the heroes captured by the Maker during the Ultimate Invasion. As the true Sorcerer Supreme assists Black Panther, this aid may not come without a price.
In the upcoming issue #10 of Ultimate Black Panther, which will be available for purchase on Wednesday, November 27th, an escape from prison provides unexpected assistance to Wakanda. However, one may question whether this new ally can be trusted completely. Could it be that the enigmatic Moon Knight offers more support? The storyline unfolds with these intriguing questions.
