As a longtime Marvel enthusiast with a soft spot for Loki, this deleted scene from Loki Season 2 is like finding a treasure map leading to the lost city of comics! It’s thrilling to see the showrunners sprinkle Easter eggs that hint at future storylines or pay homage to lesser-known characters.
The second season of Loki on Blu-ray is arriving next week, and one discarded scene reveals Loki mentioning obscure characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that we haven’t encountered yet. This previously released scene by Variety features Loki (Tom Hiddleston) conversing with Mobius (Owen Wilson) about those who labeled him a problem before he joined the Temporal Variance Authority (TVA). Among the enemies listed were some expected names, but others took us by surprise – such as Amora, Absorbing Man, and Hercules.
In a deleted scene, the camera moves along the corridors of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), where Loki and Mobius are peacefully eating key lime pie. Loki casually mentions various Asgardian characters we’ve encountered in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, stressing: “Heimdall was a significant figure! He also recalls some Earth-bound humans, such as the main cast from Thor and recurring S.H.I.E.L.D. agents within the series. Loki even refers to Donald Blake, “the persona Thor adopts when he visits Earth,” before delving into the true Easter egg names.
In the Marvel Universe, Amora, often referred to as the Enchantress, frequently poses a significant threat to Thor. Originating from Asgard, she predominantly employs magic for manipulating minds. The character of Enchantress also refers to Sylvie Lushton, a human granted magical abilities by Loki to act as an instigator of disorder. This could be the reason behind choosing the name Sylvie for Loki’s female counterpart in the series, portrayed by Sophia Di Martino.
Initially, Carl Creel, known as “Crusher” due to his boxing career, transforms into the Absorbing Man after Loki bestows him with the power to adopt the properties of any substance he touches. Originally a villain in the 1960s comics, Creel’s character evolved into an anti-hero over time. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Brian Patrick Wade portrayed Creel on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he was also mentioned in an episode of Daredevil.

In summary, Hercules, the semi-divine Greek warrior, has been a recurring figure in Marvel Comics for nearly as long as Thor, and he made a victorious entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the film “Thor: Love and Thunder“. Brett Goldstein, famous for his role as Roy Kent on “Ted Lasso“, portrayed Hercules in this appearance. This brief cameo strongly suggests that we can expect to see more of this character on screen in the future.
Much of the conflicts Loki spoke about in this scene took place off camera, or possibly in different realities we haven’t witnessed yet. These and other scenes will be featured in Loki Season 2 when it becomes available on 4K UHD Blu-ray starting Tuesday, December 3rd at retailers that carry Blu-rays. For now, you can watch both seasons of the series on Disney+.
