As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of blood, sweat, and countless fatalities under my belt, the news about the potential cancellation of the Mortal Kombat 1 DLC leaves me reeling like a fatality-stricken opponent. I’ve been through the highs and lows of Mortal Kombat, from the original arcade to the latest iterations, and this news is a gut punch.
As a dedicated Mortal Kombat fan, it seems like the focus for WB Games is now primarily on their core franchises, and that might mean some changes for Mortal Kombat 1. From what I’ve gathered from FateUnknown, a third Kombat Pack and second story expansion on the Mortal Kombat leaks subreddit have reportedly been called off.
It appears that Kombat Pack 2 was the last batch of DLC characters, but there might be more – a Kameo Fighter or two – still in the works, although their release is uncertain. The reason for postponing these fighters seems to be low sales of the game ‘Khaos Reigns’, which came out on September 24th.
