As a film enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the magical world of cinema, I must say that I am absolutely thrilled about Iman Vellani‘s new venture outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While her heart will always belong to the Avengers and their kin, it’s refreshing to see her spread her wings and explore other fantastical realms.

View Urgent ForecastActress Iman Vellani has secured her initial role outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, signing on to feature in the upcoming Young Adult fantasy film titled “Shiver.” This romantic-fantasy production is an adaptation from a novel penned by Maggie Stiefvater, and filming commenced last month. On Monday, it was announced through Deadline that Iman Vellani will be part of the “Shiver” cast, although her specific role has yet to be disclosed.
Shiver
Vellani, who has previously been an actress within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), is set for a significant change as she moves from just acting to also voicing a character. At 22 years old, she first came onto the scene in the Disney+ miniseries “Ms. Marvel” and played the lead hero. The following year saw her make a big-screen debut in “The Marvels,” a sequel to “Captain Marvel” that intertwined her series too. While the movie received mixed reviews, Vellani’s performance was often commended. Upcoming projects for her include lending her voice to the Disney+ animated series “Marvel Zombies.
It’s not certain if Vellani has pursued work outside of Marvel since her love for superheroes is strong. Last year, she began her career as a comic book writer with the series “Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant“. Since then, she and co-writer Sabir Pirzada have collaborated on other Marvel Comics, and are anticipated to carry on. In the meantime, writer Sana Amanat revealed to Empire that Vellani’s eagerness for the characters and their background played a significant role in her being chosen to play Kamala Khan.

Shiver marks an effortless transition for Vellani from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), maintaining her within the realm of genre fiction and catering to a similar demographic. Filming is set to conclude next month, though no release date has been announced yet. In the interim, Stiefvater’s books are accessible in print, digital, and audiobook versions. Currently, Ms. Marvel and The Marvels can be streamed on Disney+.
