As a lifestyle expert with years of experience, I can confidently say that Jodie Turner-Smith embodies the epitome of a modern mother. Her unwavering passion for nurturing and enriching her daughter’s life is truly inspiring. Despite her high-profile career and personal ups and downs, she prioritizes her role as a mother above all else.
Jodie Turner-Smith didn’t want to wait for her daughter to see Wicked.
In the midst of the movie adaptation enchanting audiences at cinemas, the star of Queen & Slim, recently took her ex-partner Joshua Jackson’s 4-year-old daughter Juno to watch the Wizard of Oz prequel on Broadway.
Jodie pointed out on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Nov. 26 that although Cynthia Erivo might be a bit young, she feels that the musical Wicked is about to gain significant popularity due to Erivo’s outstanding performance. She added that she hopes Erivo will perform in the play before the movie adaptation.
She also admitted that Juno had a lot of questions since she hadn’t even seen The Wizard of Oz yet.
The 38-year-old expressed that she absolutely adores the musical “Wicked” and considers it her favorite, which is why she decided to bring her daughter along. She was truly excited and looking forward to it, as evident by her eagerness and enthusiasm. She wasn’t the only one in the audience with a young 4½-year-old child.
For Jodie, marrying the former star of “Dawson’s Creek” in 2019 was a significant event, but she later filed for divorce in 2023. Motherhood, however, has been a blessing that has enriched every aspect of her life.
She expressed her affection during an interview on Today with Hoda & Jenna in June, saying, “I’m incredibly proud to be her mother. I feel so fortunate that she selected me for this role. Being her mom is my greatest joy and privilege.
She expressed that it seems natural and fitting for women to nurture, regardless of whether they have children or not. She believes this is a woman’s inherent role. This transformation has significantly impacted her. It has made her realize her strength, leaving her in awe. She exclaimed, “Wow! Like the Supreme Being!
Although Jodie and Joshua are no longer a couple, the actress from “After Yang” recognizes the importance of maintaining a friendly co-parenting relationship.
She shared with Glamour last month that breaking up with someone can be challenging for anyone since you’re accustomed to spending a lot of time with your child. However, no one is given a guidebook to navigate through this change. Everyone is trying their best to find their way, and the complexities arise because each parent leads separate lives. This complication is further intensified when the split is due to living different lifestyles, as it adds another layer to the challenge of co-parenting effectively.
As for her thoughts on Joshua, who previously dated Lupita Nyong’o, moving on from their romance?
She pointed out, “He has the freedom to act as he chooses. However, I ask that he treats Juno and Juno’s mother kindly since I will always be connected to Juno in a parental role. Ultimately, it’s not my place to judge his path.
