Alright, matey! I’ve been through my fair share of Stalker games, and let me tell you, the “Budmo!” quest is one you don’t want to miss. Now, if you’re looking to clean out Panas’s stash like a true Stalker, then here’s what you gotta do:
“Budmo!” is a side quest you can do pretty early on in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
In this mission, you’re tasked with transporting some vodka to a few friends of yours who happen to have hidden stores. Interestingly enough, this vodka is capable of neutralizing radiation. But here’s the twist: it’s not just about dropping off the vodka; you also have the chance to help yourself to items within their stashes!
Here, we’re going to provide you with all the essential information regarding the “Budmo!” mission, including every possible ending it may have.
Budmo! Quest Guide | Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl
You can initiate the “Budmo!” quest in Stalker 2 by conversing with Misha and Grisha near the Slag Heap, which is situated within the Garbage area. Their exact position has been highlighted on the provided map.
As a dedicated follower of this thrilling adventure, I’ve been tasked with a intriguing mission: locate three hidden caches belonging to a fellow named Panas in nearby locations. To add a twist, I’m supposed to surreptitiously stash some vodka into these caches. Luckily, the map provides clear markers for each cache once I accept the quest. But here’s the catch: before I set off, I must make my decision on how to proceed.
As requested, I decided to hide the vodka away, leaving it untouched for now. This move rewards me with 1300 Coupons once I complete the quest, but that’s all there is to it.
Alternatively, you can be a real stalker and steal from 2 of the 3 stashes. This will let you get your hands on some pretty sweet loot early and effortlessly. However, Panas will become aggressive toward you at the end of the quest… and for good reason!
If you choose to raid the caches, ensure you pick the ones that suit you best initially, since you’ll run into Panas near the third one each time you visit.
Personally speaking, we recommend stealing from 2 of the stashes. It’s by far the most rewarding option if you’re thinking purely about what you get from the quest. However, you’ll have to kill Panas as well at the end of the quest, so keep that in mind. It’s definitely not a nice thing to do…
Just a heads up, once you’ve completed the quest honestly, you won’t be able to retrieve the special loot from the stashes as they will now contain only ammunition.
Either way, decide how you plan to approach the mission, and let’s get to finding the stashes!
Finding All of Panas’ Stashes
Power Transmission Pylon
The first stash we recommend going to is the one at the Power Transmission Pylon. It’s directly east of where the quest starts. You’ll find the backpack stash embedded halfway into the pylon. Use the nearby trees to reach it.
This stash has the following items:
- Hilka Detector
- Moonlight Artifact
- Flash Artifact
If you’re considering raiding the hidden caches, this spot is essential. It’s where you can find the Hilka Detector, one of the advanced versions of Artifact Detectors. Unlike the common Echo Detector, it boasts a significantly extended detection range!
Concrete Blocks
As I tread through the game world, I’ve discovered that the cache you seek lies westward from the Slag Heap, nestled amidst a pile of broken concrete. Following the quest marker, I’d suggest you navigate towards the heart of these rubble piles where you’ll come across a cylindrical-like structure made of concrete. To access the secret stash, be ready to shatter the wooden planks that bar its entry.
Looting this one will get you the following items:
- .45 ACP FMJ Ammo Box (30)
- Pistol Suppressor Attachment
- RNBW 2X Scope Attachment
- PTM Monolith Submachine Gun
Here, having the gun and accessories could be quite useful in a robbery attempt at Panas, but otherwise, it’s best to simply ignore them and continue with the vodka bottle.
Poisonous Hole
Heading towards the cache hidden in a cave, it’s situated northwest from the cluster of concrete blocks. Follow the path shown on our map by going directly south from the quest marker. Once inside the cave, venture deep into its recesses until you reach the dead-end at the back, where you’ll find the backpack waiting for you.
This stash has the following items:
- 1 Grenade
- 9X18mm PST Ammo Box (20)
- BUKET S-2 Submachine Gun
- Optician Gas Mask
Aren’t the BUKET S-2 and gas mask quite intriguing? Choose whether to take the items or let go of the vodka bottle instead.
Dealing with Panas
Previously, we pointed out that Panas can be found when you reach the third hideout spot designated for you. Regardless of the sequence, he’ll always be there waiting.
If you remove any items from his stashes, he’ll become hostile and will try to attack you. This reaction is the same whether it’s just one item or multiple from a single stash. In such a situation, you might as well take everything. He’s not particularly formidable, so you can easily dispatch him with a quick shot.
If you choose to hide the vodka without taking it, Panas will engage in conversation with you. He’s upset because he’s given up alcohol and prefers Anti-Radiation Drugs instead. Now, you’ve got two options.
- Give him Anti-Radiation Drugs – He’ll thank you and pay you 1300 Coupons. Panas will say he will go to Duga or some other place, as well. However, he seems to disappear from the game at this point.
- Give him Cossacks Vodka – Panas will complain about it, but he’ll take it. However, he won’t give you anything as a reward. Return to the Slag Heap after some time to find Panas drinking with Misha and Grisha. Talk with them there to receive around 1800 coupons and share a drink.
Whichever of the three outcomes you choose, that’s everything you need to know about the “Budmo!” quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. For help with another quest, check out our guide on the “Ad Astra, Per Aspera” quest.
