As a dedicated Pokemon Sleep fan since its inception, I’ve always been intrigued by this unique spin on the beloved franchise. While it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, the slow-paced gameplay and sleep tracking elements have always held a certain charm for me.
Even die-hard fans of Pokemon Sleep acknowledge it’s a niche interest compared to other popular Pokemon mobile games. This game blends sleep tracking and casual gaming, leading to leisurely gameplay that some find less engaging than fast-paced mobile games with more events. However, a new roadmap for Pokemon Sleep hints they may be planning to add new features in an attempt to offer a different experience.
Ever since its debut, I’ve been following the development of Pokemon Sleep, primarily by Select Button. But recently, there’s been an exciting shift – The Pokemon Company and ILCA have formed a joint studio called Pokemon Works, which is now taking over the reins for this game. You can see it yourself if you check out the opening credits; Pokemon Works has been added to the developer list. Not long after that, they unveiled a roadmap for future updates, suggesting some major modifications in how the game functions.

Just like any major Pokémon Sleep announcement, players can claim a special reward while also learning about upcoming updates and modifications. The reluctance of some players at the thought of Select Button stepping back is understandable, given their history of generous in-app gifts. However, this gift bundle along with the unveiling of future plans could be an effort to calm those concerns. Nonetheless, it’s evident that Pokémon Sleep has ambitious plans for 2025, introducing new features that might attract new players to give the game a chance.
The planned course for future advancements encompasses some anticipated announcements, such as readying for an upcoming Holiday Event, which is set to debut alongside the next update for Pokemon Sleep. Furthermore, there are several intriguing details that could create a stir upon their realization. Among the key points being developed over the long term, both new and returning players might find themselves intrigued.
New Gameplay Mode & Event Type Coming to Pokemon Sleep
Initially, the creators behind “Pokemon Sleep” revealed they’re working on a new, engaging gameplay mode with the possibility of multiple Pokémon joining in. It’s uncertain what this means specifically, but it seems like they are addressing concerns about the game offering limited interactive elements.
At present, the main features of the app revolve around daily sleep studies, monitoring sleep patterns, and feeding Snorlax three times a day. A new mode with a greater degree of complexity could enhance user engagement by introducing fresh gameplay aspects. This could potentially serve as an incentive for users who enjoy interactive mobile apps, as it may allow Pokemon abilities to be utilized beyond just collecting ingredients and berries, thereby giving them a more meaningful role in the game.
A significant upcoming shift for Pokemon Sleep is the introduction of a “unique event” distinct from current ones. The event promises to utilize “every researcher’s Drowsy Power” for its completion, suggesting a collaborative aspect reminiscent of Pokemon GO. This new approach seems aimed at fostering a sense of community within the game by encouraging more cooperative events. Although additional event paths could prevent monotony, it remains intriguing to observe how players will adapt to this team-oriented strategy in a game primarily focused on personal sleep tracking and improvement.
Apart from their long-term plans for Pokemon Sleep, the development team has mentioned that they are working on modifications to some Main Skills as well. For instance, Ditto will acquire a Transform ability and Mr. Mime will learn the Mimic skill, to make these Pokémon more distinct. Additionally, they aim to expand the number of teams you can save on the Edit Teams screen, which is beneficial for players who prefer having specific helpers for each Pokemon Sleep island.
It’s evident that the newly formed development team won’t be the sole alteration for Pokemon Sleep over the next year. Players are eagerly anticipating these changes to determine if they will ultimately prove beneficial.
