Emmerdale airs painful confrontation for Pollard in ITVX release

As someone who has watched Emmerdale for over three decades and witnessed the highs and lows of Eric Pollard’s (Chris Chittell) rollercoaster life, I must say that this recent turn of events leaves me both saddened and frustrated.

Contains spoilers for Monday’s Emmerdale episode (2nd December 2024), currently available to stream on ITVX.

In the most recent episode of Emmerdale, Chris Chittell’s character, Eric Pollard, left his partner Brenda Walker, played by Lesley Dunlop, heartbroken due to the consequences of some recent choices he made.

Following a challenging period marked by Parkinson’s disease symptoms, it appeared that Pollard regained his momentum, delighting Brenda with a heartfelt marriage proposal, a beautiful engagement ring, and exciting plans for a lavish honeymoon.

However, it turned out that Pollard had placed all his funds into a questionable digital currency venture – a fact he kept concealed.

Following a conversation with Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), Pollard felt optimistic that the tide might be turning in his favor regarding the progress of that particular company.

However, there were no indications of fresh activity in his bank account, leading worried doctor Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) to intervene as desperate Pollard attempted to resolve his predicament by utilizing funds from the store.

In the meantime, Brenda was alarmed when she attempted to purchase her dream wedding dress with her personal savings, but discovered that someone had already emptied her account.

In simpler terms, Pollard initially blamed a technical issue at the bank for his actions, but ultimately, due to Brenda’s anger, he admitted that he had spent her money on an investment he believed would be profitable.

As Pollard attempted to persuade Brenda that he could recover her money, Brenda grew increasingly frustrated by his careless actions, finding it hard to believe.

Is Brenda and Pollard’s lengthy partnership at an end due to his deceit, or will she grant him a second opportunity for redemption by forgiving him?
