As a seasoned Stalker, I’ve navigated the treacherous landscapes of the Zone more times than I can count. The latest addition to my journey, “Stalker 2”, has proven no exception – it’s as if the developers have been eavesdropping on my nightmares! This time around, I found myself in a bit of a pickle, tasked with retrieving Sultan’s briefcase.
In Stalker 2, side quests serve as a significant income source for players, and fortunately, there’s no shortage of these tasks scattered across the map. One such task is “The Mysterious Case,” where players are assigned to retrieve a foreboding briefcase for Sultan, a prominent Bandit leader within the Zone.
Engaging in tasks assigned by a Bandit leader may seem risky, but it’s swift and effective for accumulating funds within the game Stalker 2. The risks are relatively minimal, and if you find yourself short on supplies, ammunition, or facing high repair costs, completing this side mission could be your best option to get back on track.
Where to Find Sultan’s Briefcase
The case is in the Lviv area on the eastern edge of the Zaton region. Specifically, it’s inside the big cargo ship by the docks. The path from the port leading to the ship is a maze of cargo containers and Whirligig anomalies, and players might encounter some mutant dogs on the way as well.
As you draw near to the pier, make sure to check for any potential threats and neutralize them first. Once safe, grab your reliable bolts and fire them at the unusual occurrences. Be patient and wait for the vortexes to dissipate, then swiftly move past them once they’ve calmed down. On the far end of the pier is a storage container that you can utilize as a stepping stone to board the cargo ship.
After boarding the ship, ascend the ladders to the research bunker’s rooftop. Follow the quest marker towards the hatch that leads inside the bunker. Descend and in the adjoining room, you’ll find Sultan’s Briefcase on a table near the corner. Pick it up and explore the rest of the bunker for miscellaneous items. Later, make your way out through the front door, which can be opened with a button.
Should You Hand Over or Keep the Briefcase?
Upon unlocking the entrance to the bunker, you’ll encounter an individual identified as Ensign and his companions. They’ll commandeer the briefcase from you, presenting you with two options: either relinquish the case or maintain possession of it.
If you decide to hold onto the briefcase, Ensign and his team will move in for an attack. While they may not be too challenging to defeat, the danger of losing your life remains high. It would be wise to retreat into the bunker and throw some grenades if you have them available. Otherwise, stay safe by peeking out from the doorway and firing at them when you can. Keep a watchful eye for any incoming grenades. Killing Ensign won’t yield any rewards, but you’ll be able to loot their bodies for useful or saleable items afterward.
If you give them the briefcase, it’s unfortunate but not much will alter. Ensign is likely to suspect deceit once they see its contents, leading to a confrontation. Afterward, return to Sultan to collect your reward, which includes several thousand Coupons and any treasures you may have taken from the ship. Don’t forget to chat with the bartender in Sultansk for further quests.
Following your battle against the Stalkers, don’t forget to inspect the helm of the ship located on the other side. You’ll find a Stalker Cache there, containing a set of armor that you can either wear or sell.
