Yaniv Station in Stalker 2 Is Problematic, Dead Richter and Guide Bug Explained

As a dedicated gamer with a soft spot for the Stalker series and a deep appreciation for its rich lore, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of Stalker 2. Unfortunately, it seems that this game has become more notorious for its technical issues than its immersive storyline.

Despite not being the top technological marvel of the year, Stalker 2 did receive two updates over the weekend, addressing over 650 bugs. Regrettably, it appears that these updates didn’t resolve all issues as some players have reported the game title crashing at random instances post-patch 1.01. Additionally, there are still numerous irritating glitches, particularly those resulting in the enigmatic vanishing of characters Guide and Richter from Yaniv Station.

Stalker 2 – Richter and Guide in Yaniv Station Bug Explained

In the world of Stalker fans, Yaniv Station holds significant recognition. Within Call of Pripyat, it was the central point in the Jupiter region. It functioned as a base for not just Loners, but also for two factions – Freedom and Duty. Interestingly, in Stalker 2, Yaniv Station serves as Degtyarev’s Corps headquarters. In both these games, Yaniv is the spot where access to Pripyat can be granted.

In the game Stalker 2, details about accessing the deserted city are revealed during the mission titled “The Border.” One aspect of this quest involves overcoming Monolith soldiers who assault a station, which results in numerous difficulties during the ensuing battle.

After the battle, the Guide (Garik) may completely vanish from the map, leaving only his marker visible on it. Alternatively, you might find him lying dead. It’s plausible that he can be defeated and his death isn’t a glitch, but rather an outcome of combat. Given the game’s technical issues, it’s difficult to definitively say.

It appears that character Richter might meet his end in that particular sequence as well. Occasionally, he remains alive, but under certain circumstances, interaction with him becomes impossible. Unfortunately, his involvement is crucial for advancing the storyline, which means this glitch hinders your progress.

At present, these issues lack a definitive resolution. If Richter or Guide disappear (or perish) at Yaniv Station, you can revert to earlier saves and strive to battle Monolith once more. In case both characters are still alive, restarting the game is another option, though success isn’t guaranteed. Some gamers resort to using console commands, but with varying results. It appears we must be patient for future patches to address these problems further.

I proudly call myself an expert in free-to-play games, with a soft spot for strategy games, simulators, RPGs, and horror titles. Online gaming has me hooked too; you’ll often find me battling it out in Dead by Daylight and Rainbow Six: Siege. I’ve got a thing for horror movies, especially the creepier, the better, and my love for music is another story altogether. But let’s not forget my deepest passion – trains! On paper, I’m a medical physicist, but in reality, I’m a humanist who has harbored a deep affection for games ever since I was a child.
