Snow White Trailer Reveals First Look at Controversial Live-Action Disney Remake

As a film enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of Disney’s live-action remakes, I must admit that the upcoming Snow White movie piques my curiosity. Having grown up with the classic 1937 animation and recently immersed in Rachel Zegler’s captivating performance in West Side Story, I am eager to see her bring Snow White to life on the big screen.

As a cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Disney has unveiled the official trailer for its upcoming live-action adaptation of Snow White. In this fresh rendition, Rachel Zegler (from West Side Story) steps into the role of Snow White, while Gal Gadot portrays the malevolent Stepmother, also known as the Evil Queen. Previous Disney live-action adaptations like The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast have generally garnered positive feedback from fans. However, some have voiced mixed opinions about these reimagined tales. With Marc Webb at the helm of this Snow White project, we’re eagerly waiting to hear what the audience thinks. Hopefully, this new trailer will shed more light on the matter.

The trailer for the new version of “Snow White” presents the traditional tale that fans are familiar with, but with a modern twist using live-action. In this adaptation, Zeglar’s Snow White works under the Evil Queen until she ventures into the forest and encounters the Seven Dwarves. The potential controversy surrounding the live-action “Snow White” may arise from the incorporation of CGI dwarves. Alongside the Seven Dwarves, Snow White will work to reclaim their kingdom from the wicked sorceress.

The film version of Snow White was initially planned for release this March; however, due to the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild strikes, it has been postponed by a year. Filming for the movie took place in 2022, but additional reshoots were required. The production on the Snow White film concluded in June, with Rachel Zegler expressing her pride and emotions through a social media post. “That’s a wrap on Snow White, and I’m so freaking proud and emotional,” she wrote on Instagram. “I love these people so much.” Although the original post is no longer visible, a fan account dedicated to Zegler shared a screenshot of it on Twitter.

Apart from her initial apprehensions, Zegler shared her experience in breathing life into Snow White. She confessed to NME last year, “I was petrified, absolutely terrified, terrified, and terrified again.” This is because she’s portraying the original Disney Princess, with 1937’s Snow White serving as the blueprint for all subsequent princesses. With numerous discussions preceding it, she was to cut off her real hair, learn to dance with unreal animals, and interact with things that aren’t actually there. The weight of expectations was immense.

In a past conversation with ComicBook, Zegler shared that she had to make a significant effort to move beyond her inner child’s excitement because she was overwhelmed. “I was squealing, I cried,” she said, leaving Sandy Powell puzzled. “It’s breathtaking to be an iconic princess. To be the inaugural Disney Princess, it’s an immense responsibility and a lot of pressure. It’s incredible,” she added.

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t wait to share that I’ll be catching “Snow White,” the latest masterpiece by Marc Webb, hitting the big screen on March 21, 2025. The captivating cast includes Rachel Zegler, Andrew Burnap, and none other than Gal Gadot! Can’t wait to witness the magic unfold in this Disney classic!
