Outnumbered confirms air date for 2024 Christmas special – the Brockmans are back

As a cinema devotee with a soft spot for British sitcoms and a memory that stretches back to the noughties, I must say it’s a delightful throwback to see Outnumbered returning for a Christmas special this year! The Brockman clan has always been a family I could relate to, their chaos and humor striking a chord with my own life experiences.

The Brockman clan are back, with Outnumbered returning for a Christmas special this festive season.

This Christmas on BBC One, shows such as Gavin & Stacey, Doctor Who, and Wallace & Gromit are returning. It’s reminiscent of the 2000s TV lineup!

On Thursday, the 26th of December, the special Christmas episode of Outnumbered can be watched on BBC One and iPlayer starting at 9:40 PM.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that there will indeed be a new Christmas special, and what’s exciting is that the primary actors from the initial series have all agreed to return to their characters again.

In the upcoming episode, Hugh Dennis reprises his role as father Pete, Claire Skinner as mother Sue, Tyger Drew-Honey portrays the eldest child Jake, Daniel Roche takes on the middle child Ben, and Ramona Marquez returns as daughter Karen.

According to the BBC report, the upcoming holiday special is set to portray the tumultuous scenes at the smaller Brockman household, where Pete and Sue face the difficulties that come with having adult children.

“The story goes on with this twist: Amid hardship, Sue and Pete assemble their entire family (which includes one grandchild) for an attempt at a conventional Christmas celebration. However, obstacles such as fate, nearby residents, hyenas, and substitute bus services seem determined to thwart their plans.

Marquez believes that Karen will remain authentic, showing her characteristic boldness and intelligence. He predicts she’ll do something unusual, perhaps spinning her intricate patterns. In essence, Marquez thinks Karen will simply be her usual self.

Draw-Honey, portraying the oldest Brockman sibling, was eagerly anticipating some “hilarious dialogue to recite” and “plenty of opportunities for spontaneous acting” in the upcoming episode.

Well, we certainly can’t wait to see what they have in store in Christmas!

The special edition of Outnumbered is scheduled to broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer this coming Thursday, 26th December, starting at 9:40 in the evening.
