As a seasoned gamer and visual novel enthusiast with a soft spot for social deduction games, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming anime adaptation of Gnosia! Having played my fair share of Among Us and Werewolf, I’m eager to dive into this unique blend of genres that promises to take the experience to new heights.
In 2025, the visual novel RPG game called Gnosia, which features social deduction gameplay much like Werewolf and Among Us but with its own distinctive twist, will be adapted into an anime. This was confirmed by Natalie Comic on Monday when Petit Depotto, the developer of the game, unveiled a promotional teaser in collaboration with Aniplex.
In the future, when humanity has expanded across the cosmos, we find ourselves perpetually fighting for existence against an insidious alien race known as the Gnosia, who have the ability to disguise themselves as humans. Following a recent Gnosia infiltration, a spaceship’s crew finds itself in a desperate situation, needing to identify which among them is actually a Gnosia before it’s too late – either they all become infected or suffer a far worse fate.
Read the following description of the game from Steam:
In a spaceship adrift, the crew confronts a lethal and enigmatic foe called the “Gnosia”. Unaware of who among them might secretly be the enemy, they devise a desperate strategy for their survival. The individuals deemed most suspicious are gradually placed into a state of suspended animation, or “cold sleep”, as an attempt to remove any potential Gnosia from the ship.

As the mastermind behind Gnosia, I, Toru Kawakatsu (Mezukare), am thrilled to share that I’ll be teaming up with Aniplex for this exciting anime project! Stay tuned for more updates!
Kawakatsu shared that the goal is to craft an animated series beyond the limits of gaming, filled with surprises and unmissable fun in each episode. He’s continually inspired by the dedication and passion of the creators working on this project. In addition, he mentioned engaging in energetic conversations with the producer at Aniplex.
Much like each player encounters numerous plots within their game, the anime’s universe features a self-determined hero. I invite you to follow along as this hero weaves one tale out of many options and traverses the realm of Gnosia.
As an ardent admirer, I too rejoiced at the news by creating my own unique artwork, just like the original illustrator, Kotori, did!
Originally launched on PlayStation Vita in Japan during 2019, Gnosia has since expanded its reach to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers globally. Adaptations of anime like Gnosia have become more frequent, with visual novels often serving as the foundation for acclaimed and timeless productions such as Muv-Luv Alternative, created by Graphinica and Yumeta Company.
Some notable visual novel anime adaptations that have found success are the Fate series and Steins;Gate. While Steins;Gate is often praised as one of the top new anime from the 2010s, fans of Fate frequently engage in lively discussions about which branching anime within the series is the best. It’s exciting to hear that Gnosia will also be adapted into an anime, which could potentially inspire more gaming enthusiasts to explore this medium.
