As a veteran gamer with decades of Call of Duty under my belt, the Season 1 Reloaded update for Black Ops 6 has me more excited than Santa Claus on Christmas Eve! The new maps, game modes, and Zombies content are just what I needed to reignite my passion for this franchise.
The first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is in full swing, so it’s time for the mid-season update, Season 1 Reloaded. This update brings a fresh wave of content, including three new Multiplayer maps (one of which is a redesigned Hacienda from Black Ops 4) and the long-awaited Citadelle de Morts Zombies map. Additionally, Liberty Falls gets a holiday makeover, a classic Zombies perk returns, and Urzikstan Ranked Play for Warzone will be released.
All of that is just the tip of the iceberg for Season 1 Reloaded. Multiplayer fans can look forward to the arrival of Hacienda, as well as the new Strike map, Racket, which pits teams against each other in the heart of a close-quarters bank vault. Additionally, get ready for some extra holiday cheer with Winter Nuketown. The familiar halls of the nuclear testing zone will be decked with boughs of holly while teams duke it out as normal. Infected will also receive a similar makeover in the Infectious Holiday playlist.
Our lone new game mode is Ran-Snack. This one keeps with the Holiday theme. Players battle for possession of snack crates to loot and return to their base. Enemies drop their snacks on death, making it a mad dash to hoard the biggest pile of winter treats. If you remember Fracture/Stockpile from earlier Black Ops games, then you’ll get the gist right away.
Further still, a new Perk and Wildcard are hitting the scene. Equipping the Shrapnel Radar perk means “Blast damage dealt from area-of-effect Lethals, Tacticals and Field Upgrades mark the injured target on your minimap.” The High Roller Wildcard allows you to add a fourth killstreak to your loadout. This should fit right in with the Dispatcher perk, as it reduces the cost of non-lethal killstreaks.
For Zombies, it’s a completely fresh experience as the Citadelle de Morts map promises excitement. Not only does it introduce a novel enemy type, the Doppleghast, but also Perk-A-Cola, Field Upgrade, Support Streak, and Limited Time Mode to keep gameplay engaging. First off, let’s talk about the setting. Citadelle de Morts is a French cathedral taken over by the familiar ghastly creatures, including a new two-headed Doppleghast special zombie.
Destroying crowds becomes simpler than ever with the electrifying aura of Tesla Storm. This field upgrade summons a bolt of elemental energies and links to friendly players, causing all standard Zombies to freeze in their tracks. Finish them off using the latest Hand Cannon support streak for maximum enjoyment.
The delight is doubled as Vulture Aid Perk-A-Cola makes a comeback, offering extra loot after every kill you make. You can find a Vulture Aid dispenser naturally on Citadelle de Morts, but if it’s not available elsewhere, you can still get the perk from Der Wunderfizz machines on other maps.
In Season 1 Reloaded, Warzone’s large map welcomes back Ranked Play once again, a feature first introduced in Urzikstan following the release of Modern Warfare 3. Despite the competitive community eagerly anticipating a return to Ranked play, it never came to fruition initially. Instead, Raven Software focused on a year of Ranked Resurgence. Now, Battle Royale enthusiasts can make up for the missed opportunity.
In essence, this year’s operation is going to operate quite like previous ones, but with a few changes tailored specifically for Multiplayer Ranked. These adjustments include eliminating rank restrictions for four-person teams and modifying the System Rating (SR) protection so that it triggers after three losses instead of three consecutive promotions.
In addition, there won’t be separate Skill Divisions such as Bronze III anymore. Instead, players will be uniformly ranked from Bronze to Iridescent. To participate in this Mode, players must finish within the top 15 in Battle Royale or among the top 6 in Resurgence in a total of 30 matches. Your wins and placements from Season 1 will contribute towards achieving this target.
Ranked grinders aren’t the only ones feasting, though. Area 99 will play host to Holiday Rush. This quick-hitting experience shrinks the storm, adds snowball coolers around the map, and channels the essence of both Supreme Resurgence and Mini-Royale modes of Warzone’s yesteryear. The fan-favorite Slay Ride Resurgence will also be hitting the streets of Urzikstan during Season 1 Reloaded.
The reinforcement comes with the introduction of fresh firearms, notably the AMR Mod 4, a spectacular Sniper Rifle that carries on the legacy of the Barrett 50.Cal (or Rytec AMR). This gun allows you to effortlessly eliminate enemy Operators with a single shot to the chest, readjust your aim, and keep causing destruction until the end of time.
Regrettably, the existing content might not sufficiently address the current issues plaguing Black Ops 6. Since the debut of Season 1, the game has been bombarded with criticism. Not only have cheaters invaded Ranked Play, severely spoiling the competitive experience for players in Diamond rank and higher, but Activision’s anti-cheat system, RICOCHET, is performing as poorly as a snowball thrown at Krampus. Furthermore, hit detection problems in Warzone are so significant that some players are choosing to leave the game entirely. In summary, fixing these issues needs immediate attention or else these seasonal offerings could disintegrate upon arrival.
