As a long-time Pokémon enthusiast, I can confidently say that the Just My Cup of Tea event in Pokémon Go is truly a delight for trainers everywhere! This event not only brings the adorable and enigmatic Sinistea and its evolved form, Polteageist, into our game for the very first time, but it also offers a plethora of exciting bonuses, Field Research tasks, Incense encounters, and wild encounters that will make every moment spent in the game worthwhile.
Starting the Dual Destiny phase of Pokémon Go, we have the “Just My Kind of Thing” event, which introduces not only Sinistea but also its evolution, Polteageist, to the game.
Ever since they debuted in Sword and Shield games from Generation 8, it’s a delight to witness the appearance of both Black Tea Pokémon now in Niantic’s mobile augmented reality game.
The introduction of these two eerie pocket-sized Pokémons made from porcelain isn’t the only perk that Just My Cup of Tea offers. During its brief playtime, you’ll enjoy special rewards, enhanced chances to encounter specific Pokémon, exclusive Field & Timed Research tasks, and a host of additional features.
Here is everything you need to know about the charming event launching the season.
When is the Just My Cup of Tea event in Pokémon Go?
Participants of Pokémon Go can join the “Just My Cup of Tea” event starting on Tuesday, 3rd December 2024, precisely at 10 in the morning, all the way up to Sunday, 7th December 2024, closing at 8 pm.
In all regions, the starting and ending times are identical, which means there’s no need for you to fret over calculating time zone differences.
How to get Sinistea in Pokémon Go explained
In the game Pokémon Go, Sinistea can be obtained starting from its debut only through two methods:
In total, there are two chances to find a Sinistea during the Timed Research event. You can unlock each encounter by successfully finishing the specified tasks within Prized Possession.
Prized Possession Timed Research tasks & rewards
In the same vein as the Timed Research for Just My Cup of Tea, completing each stage in Prized Possession will provide you with different tasks, each offering unique rewards. Upon finishing these stages, an encounter with Sinistea awaits you as well.
Step 1/2
- Win a Raid
- Reward: Spritzee encounter
- Win 2 Raids
- Reward: Stardust x1000
- Wind 3 Raids
- Reward: Morelull encounter
- Win 4 Raids
- Reward: Stardust x2000
- Win 5 Raids
- Reward: Greavard encounter
Completing this step will grant you three rewards: your first Sinistea encounter, 2500 Stardust, and 3000 XP.
Step 2/2
- Win a Raid
- Reward: Spritzee encounter
- Win 2 Raids
- Reward: Morelull encounter
- Win 3 Raids
- Reward: Greavard encounter
Not only will you have another chance to find Sinistea here, but completing this final task will reward you with an additional 4,000 Stardust and 5,000 experience points as well.
Collection Challenge: Swirl and Sip task & rewards
Different from Challenges in other events, Just My Cup of Tea focuses on a single goal: capturing a Sinistea. This objective is accomplished once you’ve progressed through at least the initial stage of Prized Possession.
Your rewards for doing so will be 10 Razz Berries, 10 Pinap Berries, and 10 Nanab Berries.
How to get Polteageist in Pokémon Go explained
To transform one of the newly caught Sinisteas from Pokémon Go into Polteageist, you’ll need 50 Sinistea Candy. However, this applies only to its Phantom form, which is the more frequently encountered version among the two types of Sinistea.
Should you happen to possess a Scarce Sinistea, its identification requiring an appraisal, you’d require 400 Candy to transform it into a Polteageist.
Due to the fact that you’ll solely focus on catching Sinistea, you can do so by participating in Timed Research or 1-Star Raids. However, remember to utilize a Pinap Berry every time, as this will double your Catch Candy and make the process smoother for you.
You can also make use of any Rare Candy you might have on hand as well.
Can Sinistea be Shiny in Pokémon Go?
No, Sinistea cannot currently be Shiny in Pokémon Go.
The absence of the usual asterisk next to Pokemon mentioned in events, such as “If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny one!”, in Niantic’s Just My Cup of Tea news post about this event suggests that these specific Pokemon might be featured without the luck-of-encountering-a-Shiny requirement.
It’s not unexpected given that normally, a Pokémon’s standard and Shiny versions aren’t simultaneously introduced to GO; they’re typically reserved for different occasions such as Community Days. However, if this rule gets altered soon, we’ll promptly modify this post.
What else is included in the Just My Cup of Tea event in Pokémon Go?
Besides the debut of Sinistea and Polteageist in Pokémon Go, Just My Cup of Tea features a range of event bonuses, research tasks, encounters using Incense, as well as wild encounters. Additionally, the upcoming Raid battles this December will include several bosses from their scheduled list.
At designated locations (PokéStops), as well as other themed events, you’ll find Showcases.
