Home Alone Star Macaulay Culkin Teases Potential for Franchise Return

As a film enthusiast with over three decades of cinematic history under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia when hearing about Macaulay Culkin potentially returning for another Home Alone movie. Having grown up with Kevin McCallister and his antics, it brings back memories of Christmas mornings spent watching the original films, a tradition shared by countless families worldwide.

Macaulay Culkin would consider returning for a new Home Alone film.

44-year-old actor made an appearance in Louisville, Kentucky this week for a special showing of ‘Home Alone’, including a Q&A session. When queried about potentially reprising his role in a new movie, Culkin disclosed that there had been past efforts to bring him back. Although he has concepts for how a comeback might unfold, he’s presently engaged in raising his two sons, whom he co-parents with his longtime companion, Brenda Song.

Macaulay Culkin expressed openness towards appearing in another Home Alone film, and has even been offered roles in recent productions. He mentioned that the compensation would need to be substantial, as he’s come up with some ideas but lacks the time due to raising two children. I strongly suggest checking out his live performance.

Macaulay Culkin made a significant debut in the popular 1990 Christmas movie “Home Alone,” portraying Kevin McCallister, an impish 8-year-old who misbehaves just before a planned trip to Paris with his family. Due to this mischief, his mother (played by Catherine O’Hara) sends him to sleep in the attic. The next day, Kevin wakes up and finds that his family has left without him, thinking his desire to be rid of his relatives might have been granted. However, he later learns that burglars Harry, played by Joe Pesci, and Marv, portrayed by Daniel Stern, intend to rob the house, so Kevin must safeguard it instead.

1992 saw Culkin reappear in the sequel titled “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York“. Instead of going to Florida with his family as planned, he unintentionally boards a flight bound for the bustling New York City. Slipping into the iconic Plaza Hotel, Culkin discovers that Harry and Marv are up to their old tricks once more, this time plotting to rob an elderly man’s toy store before the festive season begins. In an effort to thwart them, Kevin takes action.

In the series, Kieran Culkin, Macaulay’s brother, plays one of Kevin’s younger cousins named Fuller. Surprisingly, Kieran admitted to the Los Angeles Times that he didn’t know what the film was about when he joined it. At its premiere, he was in stitches with laughter, finding it the funniest thing he had ever seen. Despite not understanding the movie’s plot at first.

As reported by Kieran, it appears that Devin Ratray, who portrays Kevin’s elder brother Buzz, took method acting to another level by embodying his character not only on-screen but also off-screen as well.

As a film enthusiast, let me share an incident involving Devin Ratray, known for his role as Buzz in the Home Alone series. He deceived me by asserting that the movie was centered around him. I, being gullible at the time, took him at his word. However, when I finally watched it, the film left me in stitches and I thought to myself, “If Mac (Macaulay Culkin’s character) was always on set, it makes sense that the movie would focus on him.
