As a seasoned observer of life’s unpredictable twists and turns, I find myself utterly astounded by this extraordinary tale. The Xbox Series S, a device I once dismissed as merely an entertainment tool, has proven its mettle beyond the digital battlefield. This console, which I’ve spent countless hours arguing about with friends over online multiplayer games, has now saved Brandon from a harrowing ordeal.
It never crossed my mind that a video game console could actually save someone’s life, but here’s an incredible story I just came across. A fellow named Brandon bought an Xbox Series S, planning to spend his time gaming at home. However, his ordinary trip took an unexpected turn into a life-threatening situation. Remarkably, the Xbox, much like Nokia phones of old, showed it could be a hero in a crisis, potentially saving this man’s life.
On my journey back home from the local GameStop, carrying an Xbox in my backpack on a bicycle, I was unfortunately hit by a truck. Initially, I managed to stay above the truck’s metal bumper but ended up being pulled under. I was violently thrown to the ground, and the truck continued moving, making me believe he hadn’t seen me. Remarkably, the Xbox in my pack cushioned the impact, saving me from a potential head injury or even death.
Apologies! I finished watching Christmas Vacation for the year last night, and this account seems to depict a car ride reminiscent of Clark Griswold’s disastrous journey under a semi-truck. Incredibly, this tale would be hard to accept if not for the pictures. And that’s not all; there’s more to it.
In an attempt to avoid being crushed by the truck, I employed my left leg to try and slow it down. Unfortunately, my bike pinned my right leg, leaving me immobile. Suddenly, my backpack, hanging precariously from my left shoulder, was violently thrown against the curb alongside me. As I lay there, I felt the entire front end of the truck roll onto my ribs before rolling off again. The truck ran over and dragged me for 12 feet before medical personnel rushed to my aid. Miraculously, I sustained only a broken bone in my left foot and some road rash, and was promptly taken to the hospital.
This incident must have been incredibly traumatic. Moments such as these can significantly alter one’s viewpoint about the world for extended periods, even up to months or years. Simple tasks like crossing the street might transform into overwhelming, nerve-racking experiences. Instead of looking both ways twice, you find yourself scrutinizing every direction a hundred times over.
Appreciation goes out to those who mentioned us! Relieved that he’s okay, and the squad is taking care of the situation now. ❤️💪 https://t.co/qvhdTG2cRw (Dec 4, 2024)
Over the years, I’ve ruined my fair share of gizmos. I’ve shattered phones, spilled pop on controllers and keyboards, and even dropped my Xbox 360 while a game was running, only for all the ground in Oblivion to turn pink. Most of the time that was it; my items were finished or in need of repair beyond my expertise. I’d laugh if you told me a piece of technology from 2024 could take any vehicle head-on and continue working. It turns out that the Xbox Series S was manufactured from the remnants of Nokia phones, which is interesting considering Nokia’s have also saved a few people’s lives (thanks, The Economic Times).
Brandon continued by stating that the small gaming device, which he initially believed to be broken, miraculously turned on without any issues. “I assumed the Xbox was beyond repair, yet it sprung to life instantly, and it manages to run games remarkably well given its past ordeals,” he added.
Afterward, Josh Stein from Microsoft contacted Brandon. Moved by his narrative, they plan to gift Brandon a brand-new Xbox and an assortment of other goodies. This man certainly deserves it; he should unlock the achievement titled “Truck Stopped: GameStop Hero”.
