As a longtime fan of both Sonic the Hedgehog and Transformers, this crossover announcement has me buzzing with excitement! The thought of seeing my favorite speedster and his trusty sidekick Tails as transformable robots is just mind-blowing. I can’t wait to see these figures in action, especially Sonic transforming into his iconic Speed Star race car, and Tails morphing into the legendary Tornado plane!

View Urgent ForecastCurrently, Sonic the Hedgehog is experiencing quite a boom, mainly due to the success of the Paramount movies. Sega is actively involving Sonic in partnerships with various brands, one of the latest being a joint project with the Justice League. Additionally, there are indications that a collaboration with Transformers might be on the horizon, and it’s expected to be officially unveiled tomorrow. Hints about this announcement have been dropped on the Transformers Instagram account, although images of potential collaborative action figures have already surfaced online. Sonic Stadium has published these leaked images, which depict a Transformer modeled after Sonic and another based on Tails.
In an appealing twist, these joint characters metamorphose a pair of vehicles symbolizing Sonic and Tails into mechanical versions of their character selves. Sonic morphs into his reliable Speed Star racing car, recognizable from games like “Team Sonic Racing”. On the other hand, Tails transforms into his famous Tornado aircraft, a staple in games since “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”! Snapshots of these toys can be found in the embedded post below by Bluesky.

Currently, it’s uncertain whether these Sonic toys will come with accompanying stories or if they are standalone figures. In the past, Hasbro has collaborated on Transformers toys with various brands like Ghostbusters and Back to the Future, some of which even had crossover comics. However, since the comic rights moved from IDW to Skybound, we haven’t seen much in terms of crossovers. So, it’s uncertain if these Sonic designs will appear elsewhere, although there’s a possibility they might end up in a video game, but that seems unlikely for now.
As a diehard Sonic fan, I’m eagerly waiting for tomorrow when Hasbro will officially unveil these new figures. I don’t have the details yet – the price point or when pre-orders might start, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we could see pre-orders go live on Hasbro Pulse this very week! It’s a thrill to be on the lookout for these releases.
