As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for survival games and a soft spot for narrative-driven experiences, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming release of The Alters. Having spent countless hours navigating the harsh realities of This War of Mine, I’m intrigued by the prospect of delving into another captivating world from the same creators.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I can now get my hands on the demo for the survival game, The Alters! This exciting preview is available across various platforms – PlayStation 5 through the PlayStation Store, Xbox Series via the Microsoft Store, and PC users can grab it from Steam. The news comes straight from the creators themselves, 11 bit studios. Let’s dive in and see what this game has in store for us!
Here is an overview of the game, via 11 bit studios:
Hailing from the same team behind the highly praised game “This War of Mine,” The Alters presents a thrilling sci-fi survival test—a challenge that Jan won’t be able to conquer solo.
On an inhospitable planet scorched by relentless sunlight, Jan finds himself stranded after an emergency landing, lacking the crew for whom the advanced mobile base was intended. However, fortune favors him when he unearths Rapidium, a rare element that, combined with the Quantum Computer, allows him to generate Clones – alternate personalities derived from altering key choices in his past.
The Alters aren’t just personnel; they are unique beings with their own talents, feelings, and ambitions. They play crucial roles in maintaining the base, creating tools, and extracting resources. However, their diverse characters can lead to conflicts. Despite their contrasts, they all strive for a common purpose: to endure, break free, and depend solely on themselves.
The game explores the timeless question: “What if I had chosen differently?” This core theme fuels a deeply personal and thought-provoking narrative as players navigate Jan’s struggle for survival.
The game titled “The Alters” is scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, as well as PC platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Microsoft Store. Additionally, it will be accessible through Game Pass.
