As a seasoned gamer with memories etched deep into the annals of gaming history, this news about the delisting of Xbox 360 games from Sega strikes a nostalgic chord. Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Monster World, Nights Into Dreams, SEGA Bass Fishing, Shinobi, Sonic the Fighters, Streets of Rage, SVC: ToeJam & Earl, and Virtua Fighter 2 – these names have been part of my gaming journey since I was a kid.
Starting December 7, some Xbox 360 games will no longer be accessible for digital purchase or download across Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X consoles. However, if you already own these games, you can still play them. It’s essential to note that physically purchased retail copies may continue to work, though availability and cost could vary based on game rarity, demand, and specific titles.
12 classic Sega games can no longer be bought new for the Xbox, and they include Altered Beast, Crazy Taxi, SEGA Genesis Classics, Golden Axe, Monster World, Nights Into Dreams, SEGA Bass Fishing, Shinobi, Sonic the Fighters, Streets of Rage, SVC: ToeJam & Earl, and Virtua Fighter 2. These games used to be accessible through Xbox Live Arcade at one point.
As a die-hard SEGA fan, I eagerly anticipate the day when classic SEGA games resurface. More than likely, we’ll see them bundled in a collection, polished with modern remasters or even full-blown remakes. It’s highly unlikely that they’ll return individually, maintaining their original forms.

If you’ve already purchased these games, you won’t need to re-download them onto your console in order to continue playing. Instead, they can still be downloaded, but not bought again.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that some beloved titles like Crazy Taxi, Golden Axe, Shinobi, and Streets of Rage are getting new chapters! Yet, not every series is seeing the light of day again. Some have been hibernating for quite a while now, making them even harder to find than before.
Regarding the reason behind Sega removing certain games, they haven’t given any clear explanation yet, leading to conjecture among fans and experts. For now, it seems unlikely that this situation will change, but should anything new emerge, we’ll make sure to keep you informed.
