First 28 Years Later Teaser Hints at Trailer Release Date

As a die-hard fan who vividly remembers the chilling impact of the original “28 Days Later” back in 2002, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming sequel, “28 Years Later.” The cryptic teaser and the promise of a full-length trailer on Tuesday have me on tenterhooks.

On Friday, a sneak peek for the film titled “28 Years Later” was revealed, yet it might have slipped past some viewers’ notice that there’s a significant hint hidden subtly within the scene. The brief 23-second clip contains Morse code messages, and many enthusiasts and commentators have successfully deciphered this to say “Tuesday.” They are speculating that this could mean the official trailer for the movie will be released on Tuesday, December 10th.

28 Years Afterward is the long-anticipated follow-up to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle, set to release on June 20, 2025. The latest teaser trailer is quite enigmatic, presenting a bird’s-eye view of an island, red skulls, a biohazard warning sign, and a scarecrow with an arrow piercing its head. We also received the first poster last Friday, which mirrors the red skulls to create a biohazard symbol. The slogan reads: “Time failed to mend anything.

28 Years Later, or simply its title, features Jodie Comber, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes. In addition, Cillian Murphy returns to his character Jim, a bicycle messenger who was in a coma when the “Rage Virus” outbreak occurred. Although he was absent from the second film, Jim is back in action as both a star actor and executive producer for this third installment.

So far, our most detailed synopsis of this movie comes from Fiennes, who spoke about his role in an interview with IndieWire back in October. He said: “Britain is 28 years into this terrible plague of infected people who are violent, rabid humans with a few pockets of uninfected communities. And it centers on a young boy who wants to find a doctor to help his dying mother. He leads his mother through this beautiful northern English terrain. But of course, around them hiding in forests and hills and woods are the infected. But he finds a doctor who is a man we might think is going to be weird and odd, but actually is a force for good.”

Originally, the movie “28 Days Later” was released in 2002, followed by “28 Weeks Later” in 2007. For the upcoming series, the creators aim to shorten the gap between installments. The new films titled “28 Years Later” and its sequel “28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple,” are planned as part of a trilogy. Interestingly, both movies were filmed back-to-back on an iPhone.

The enigmas are unfolding, yet most enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for a resolution by Tuesday. Mark your calendars as you’ll be able to watch “28 Years Later” on June 20, 2025. Meanwhile, you can stream “28 Days Later” on Apple TV right now, and “28 Weeks Later” is available for streaming on Hulu.
