New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Video Game Announced

As a seasoned gamer who’s witnessed the evolution of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise over the years, I must admit that the announcement of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown” has piqued my interest. The turn-based strategy seems like a refreshing departure from the usual arcade brawlers we’re accustomed to, and the diorama-style presentation is quite intriguing.

Instead of sticking to traditional arcade brawlers, developers have begun to explore innovative approaches with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters. One such developer is Strange Scaffold, who recently unveiled a new game titled “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown“. In a first for the franchise, Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo will star in a turn-based game. The visual style seems to mimic figurines on dioramas. Unlike previous games, the TMNT are split up, with distinct campaigns for each turtle. In total, there are 20 levels across all four campaigns.

In this new iteration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles titled “Tactical Takedown”, players will experience a unique narrative distinct from any previous games in the series. The story unfolds post-the demise of both Splinter and Shredder, whose deaths remain mysterious. Despite their primary adversary’s absence, the Foot Clan persists, with a new leader emerging, hinted at by game artwork to potentially be Karai. The combat mechanics are showcased in a short trailer below, offering a sneak peek into gameplay.

The team responsible for creating games such as “El Paso, Elsewhere”, “I Am Your Beast”, and “Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator” is called Strange Scaffold. These games have garnered positive to extremely positive reviews on Steam, suggesting that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is in capable hands with their new game, “Tactical Takedown”. The music for this game will be composed by RJ Lake, who refers to himself as the primary composer for Strange Scaffold. A trailer provides a glimpse into what we can anticipate from his music in “Tactical Takedown”, and the Steam page indicates that the soundtrack will span multiple genres.

At present, the game titled “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown” has merely been unveiled for Steam. This may be disheartening for fans anticipating a console version, as they’ve expressed their hopes in the YouTube trailer comments section, asking for the game to appear on Switch and mobile devices. However, given the TMNT’s extensive console history, it’s reasonable to expect that a wider release might occur at some point in the future, should there be significant demand. For now on Steam, neither a launch date nor the cost have been disclosed.
