Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall confirms next year’s Christmas special is already done

As a dedicated fan of Beyond Paradise, it feels like Christmas has come early for me! Knowing that not only have they already filmed the 2025 Christmas special but also a third season is just mind-boggling. I can’t help but wonder if they’ve accidentally time-traveled and are filming episodes in some strange parallel universe where time flows backward!

For the audience of Beyond Paradise, it’s almost three more weeks till they can watch this year’s Christmas special, but for the cast, that moment seems like it was long ago.

Indeed, it turns out that the scenario is even more accurate than we initially assumed. Not only has the cast completed filming for a third season of the series, but they’ve also finished shooting the upcoming Christmas special for the following year.

According to Kris Marshall, the actor from Humphrey, he mentioned during an interview on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with The National Lottery on Virgin Radio UK that they have recently completed filming for Christmas 2025. As a result, he is currently a step ahead in terms of Christmases. They wrapped up production just last Friday.

Later on, Marshall jokingly hinted about the show, known for avoiding typical detective series tropes by centering around burglaries and other crimes instead of murders: “You’ll find murders in season three. Here’s another teaser!

Although we haven’t received any details about next year’s Christmas special as of now, and it might be a while until we do, this year’s special synopsis reveals the following: “Bob finds himself home alone, watching family videos when an unexpected guest appears – Linda, his deceased wife’s ghost. She makes a chilling request: leave.

If a troubling event happens for a second time and someone scribbles on a mirror, Humphrey and his group are summoned to look into the matter.

Esther expresses strong doubts, while Humphrey seems eager to explore his first ghostly encounter. Is there a logical reason behind this occurrence?

This holiday season, I’m thrilled to share that it’s not just Paradise being served on BBC One, but Death in Paradise as well! They’ve got a festive special brewing, and guess who’ll be stepping into the lead detective’s shoes? None other than Don Gilet himself.

The upcoming special is set to be a full-length production, lasting approximately 90 minutes, where Gilet will team up with the regular cast members such as Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, Élizabeth Bourgine, and Danny John-Jules.

On the 27th of December, 2024, you’ll find me tuning in to the special Christmas episode of Beyond Paradise, which will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm. If you haven’t already, you can stream seasons 1 and 2 right now on BBC iPlayer.
