Kraven the Hunter
On December 13th this coming Friday, Sony’s upcoming movie featuring Spider-Man sidekicks, titled “Kraven the Hunter“, will premiere in theaters. This film stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as he brings a contemporary twist to one of Marvel’s most vibrant villains. If you’re a Marvel enthusiast who hasn’t been closely following Sony’s releases, it might be worth catching up now, given that the MCU’s multiverse has demonstrated an ability to incorporate characters from any timeline at any moment.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim
Among the many projects in the “Lord of the Rings” universe, “The War of the Rohirrim” stands out as one of the most innovative and thrilling. This upcoming film will introduce renowned anime director Kenji Kamiyama to Middle-earth, offering a breathtaking journey free from typical cinematic limitations. It’s a unique blend, with Philippa Boyens – writer and producer of Peter Jackson’s trilogy – joining the team as both a writer and producer for this film, and Miranda Otto returning to portray Éowyn. The movie also boasts archival recordings of Christopher Lee lending his voice to Saruman.
As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming movie, “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim,” is set 183 years before the events of “The Fellowship of the Ring.” This epic tale delves into the war waged by Rohan against the Dunlendings – a conflict hinted at in the trilogy, but now to be fully explored. Mark your calendars for its release on Friday, December 13th! Can’t wait to witness this fascinating story unfold on the big screen.
The Last Showgirl
In “The Last Showgirl,” Pamela Anderson takes center stage alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, Billie Lourd and Jason Schwartzman. This drama follows a Las Vegas dancer as she contemplates her future after three decades on the same stage. The film made quite an impression at its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier in the year, so don’t miss it when it hits theaters starting December 13th.
The Man in the White Van
A horror movie at Christmas is scary enough, but The Man in the White Van is based on true events. It stars Madison Wolfe as Annie, a young girl who feels she is being stalked by a mysterious white van even though no one believes her. Her parents are played by Ali Larter and Sean Astin, while her sister is played by Brec Bassinger. This thriller is perfect for Halloween-lovers around the holidays.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
On Friday, December 20th, you can catch “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” in theaters! Die-hard fans have been anxiously anticipating this film, and it looks set to meet all their expectations. Not only does it introduce Shadow the Hedgehog, who is voiced by Keanu Reeves, but it also promises twice the Jim Carrey, as he portrays both Dr. Ivo Robotnik and his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. This movie should prove to be a hit among families and long-time fans alike.
Mufasa: The Lion King
If families with young children show up in large numbers as expected, the prequel to “The Lion King” titled “Mufasa” could potentially be the most successful film in this collection. This movie recounts Mufasa’s ascension to the throne of Pride Rock for the very first time, and it unveils a surprising truth: Mufasa and Scar are actually adopted brothers. The release date for “Mufasa: The Lion King” is set for December 20th.

A Complete Unknown
Timothée Chalamet takes center stage in the fresh biopic about renowned singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, featuring Edward Norton and Elle Fanning as supporting actors. This film zeroes in on Dylan’s life and musical journey from 1961 to 1965 – a period that saw him evolve from a folk revival icon to a rock ‘n’ roll pioneer armed with an electric guitar and backed by a band. The movie, titled A Complete Unknown, will be premiering in theaters on December 25th.
Babygirl
If you recall, the trailer for the film “Babygirl” left quite an impression. In it, Nicole Kidman portrays a commanding CEO character, and Harris Dickinson takes on the role of Samuel, her intern who develops an affair with her. The movie delves into power and sexual relationships, weaving a complex tapestry of drama. You can catch it in theaters starting December 25th, Wednesday.
Nosferatu
Fans of horror films have eagerly awaited Robert Eggers’ reinterpretation of “Nosferatu” for close to a decade, and it’s set to release on Christmas Day. The film features Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hutter and Bill Skarsgård in the role of Transylvanian vampire Count Orlok. Other notable actors in the cast include Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe.
The Fire Inside
The Fire Within narrates the authentic tale of boxer Claressa “T-Rex” Shields as she prepares for the 2012 Summer Olympics. Ryan Destiny portrays the athlete, while Brian Tyree Henry takes on the role of her coach, Jason Crutchfield. The film has received much acclaim on the festival circuit and will be having a nationwide cinema release this Christmas. It’s set to hit cinemas with force on December 25th.
Wicked Sing-Along
As a movie enthusiast, I must say that for many of us, Christmas is not just about unwrapping presents or spending time with family, but also about revisiting our favorite films that bring a warm sense of nostalgia. However, if you’re looking for something unique to spice up your holiday tradition, consider heading to the theater for a special sing-along event of the much-loved musical Wicked. Starting on Christmas Day, December 25th, fans are invited to join Elphaba in song. Just be mindful that not all theaters allow singing along during regular screenings, so make sure you’re at the right venue to avoid any unwanted controversy!
