As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say, Rocksteady’s decision to bid adieu to Suicide Squad is bittersweet at best. Having played their stellar Batman: Arkham series, I had high hopes for this title, but alas, it was not meant to be. The announcement of Season 4 being the final content drop leaves me with a sense of closure, yet a tinge of disappointment lingers.
Rocksteady Studio, creators of Batman: Arkham series, are set to break free from their Suicide Squad duties next month as they’ve confirmed that Season 4, due in January 2025, is the final chapter of content releases. The online servers will continue to operate and all previously released post-launch content, along with the main gameplay, will remain accessible, but no further episodes beyond Season 4 are planned.
It seems quite clear that Rocksteady won’t likely return to Suicide Squad development, given the imminent release of an offline mode on December 10th, 2024. This feature enables players to enjoy the entire game, including all its post-launch content, without needing an internet connection. Users can establish a separate offline profile that mirrors their online one, transferring all progress into an accessible, offline format for gameplay.
Regarding maintaining the game’s servers active, a FAQ response clarifies: Currently, we don’t intend to stop providing online server support for the game. But, if you update the game to include Offline mode, you can play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League offline without requiring a connection to our servers.
In this final round of content, Deathstroke joins as a playable character and, surprisingly, another Battle Pass has been included. We can’t help but wonder how many players manage to finish that off. Despite its lengthy production period, Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad has unfortunately turned out to be a catastrophe. It seems part of the team is now working on content for the definitive edition of Hogwarts Legacy.
