As a gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that Raf Grassetti’s return to PlayStation is like a breath of fresh air. From his exceptional work on God of War Ragnarok, he moved to Netflix and now finds himself at the esteemed Naughty Dog studio.
Raf Grassetti, who is well recognized for his contributions to the God of War series at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio, has come back to PlayStation.
Following his tenure as Art Director on God of War Ragnarok, Grassetti departed from the team to take up a fresh position at Netflix. For approximately 17 months, he has been working there on an unspecified new AAA Intellectual Property (IP).
Now, he’s back under Sony’s umbrella, having begun a new position as Naughty Dog’s art director.
The news comes via Grassetti’s social media in a brief post:
Without additional details provided, it seems clear that he will focus on the next project the studio has in development, following the cancellation of their multiplayer game based on The Last of Us.
Information regarding Naughty Dog’s upcoming venture remains scant, yet it’s rumored to place a greater focus on player autonomy. This project is also said to feature the highly versatile gaming actor, Troy Baker, as its leading character.
In God of War (2018) and Ragnarok, the art direction and character designs were outstanding, leaving us eagerly anticipating Grassetti’s contributions at Naughty Dog. Fingers crossed that we’ll get a glimpse of his talent soon!
