It appears that not everyone was thrilled with the complete launch of Marvel Rivals, as suggested by Mike Ybarra, a former Blizzard executive, who criticized the game for resembling Tencent’s controversial Horizon clone, Light of Motiram. He even referred to it as “Overwatch Marvel Rivals” in a tweet that has since been removed.
Eurogamer observed an interaction where Ybarra suggested NetEase Games’ free-to-play shooter had overly resembled Overwatch, specifically pointing out the likeness between the sniper Widowmaker and Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff). However, Ybarba was apparently unaware that Black Widow was created decades before Widowmaker, leading to a sharp comment from the community. Subsequently, Blizzard’s ex-president removed his post in response.
