As a long-time follower of Beyond Paradise, I eagerly await the Christmas special each year like a child anticipates Santa Claus. The South West setting, the quirky characters, and the intriguing mysteries have always made it a must-watch for me.
It’s time for cozying up on the couch, surrounded by your favorite treats, and indulging in the delightful Beyond Paradise Christmas episode.
Indeed, I find myself once more immersed in the heartwarming tale of Humphrey, Martha, and their fellow villagers as yet another joyous holiday season unfolds in the picturesque Shipton Abbott.
Filming for the show’s third season began in August, and here’s what executive producer Tim Key had to express: “We’re thrilled to return to the scenic South West, shooting what we believe will be our most compelling series yet. It’s brimming with mysteries, surprises, obstacles, and an abundance of heart.
Creating this show brings us immense joy, and the audience’s reaction has been terrific. It’s particularly thrilling to have Jamie Bamber, who portrays Martha’s ex Archie, return to Shipton Abbott. We’re eager for everyone to catch a glimpse of what we’ve been working on!

Beyond Paradise Christmas special release date: When will it air?
The Christmas special episode of Beyond Paradise, scheduled for 2024, is set to be broadcast on both BBC One and BBC iPlayer starting from Friday, the 27th of December, at 9:00 PM.

Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton reprise their roles as Humphrey and Martha.

Beyond Paradise Christmas special plot: What’s it about?
“In this holiday special, when a man who has recently lost his wife claims to see her as a ghost, Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman and his team are brought on board to look into the matter.
DS Esther Williams expresses doubt, whereas Humphrey eagerly anticipates his initial encounter with a haunting. After all, it’s Christmas time, and isn’t everyone intrigued by a spooky holiday tale?
Humphrey and Martha have also taken in a teenager called Jaiden as part of their fostering.
According to Marshall, up until now, Humphrey and Martha have only had one temporary foster child named Ryan. Ryan was mischievous, full of energy, and generally manageable for caregivers, although the placement was brief.
Every child varies, and foster care comes with a range of emotional ups and downs. Each new situation presents its own set of distinct difficulties, and Martha and Humphrey navigate these hurdles side by side.
Though Humphrey plays an active role and offers his support, it’s primarily Martha who handles the majority of parenting responsibilities. However, Humphrey derives great fulfillment from their fostering journey.
Bretton also described the experience as “a bit of a challenge at first”.
Much like an average teenager, he’s often found engrossed in his phone and headphones. It usually takes some time before he becomes comfortable with Martha,” she elaborated.
“She really tries to make a connection with him, but it’s not easy.
Over the course of the storyline, it becomes evident that Jaiden is having difficulty dealing with being apart from his younger sibling. This situation presents a unique challenge for Martha and Humphrey, as they have primarily worked with younger children in the past.
Martha faces fresh obstacles when dealing with a teenager, but she’s resolved to ensure that this Christmas holds something extraordinary for Jaiden.
