However, the game’s launch player engagement hasn’t matched expectations, considering the popular intellectual property it’s built upon and the favorable reviews it has received.
On its first day of release, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle reached a peak of 12,138 simultaneous players on Steam, surpassing most of MachineGames’ previous titles in terms of peak concurrent numbers on this platform. For instance, Wolfenstein: The New Colossus had 11,986 players online simultaneously, and Wolfenstein: Youngblood had 6,582. However, it didn’t surpass the record set by Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus in 2017, which peaked at a staggering 16,141 concurrent players on Steam.
It’s important to consider several aspects that could impact the game’s performance. Firstly, as previously stated, the game has been accessible to Premium Edition owners for some time now, so many people might have already started playing it. Secondly, the game can be accessed through Game Pass and the Windows Store, not just Steam, which means a portion of its PC player base may not be using Steam to play the game.
