An emoji button may be coming to the Taskbar on Windows 11

As someone who has been navigating the digital landscape for decades now, I find this latest development from Microsoft intriguing. The idea of adding an emoji button to the Taskbar might seem trivial at first glance, but it’s a move that could potentially bring a more user-friendly interface to Windows 11.

If recent discoveries are accurate, Microsoft could potentially introduce a new emoji button to the Taskbar of Windows 11. In the most recent previews of Windows 11, @Phantomofearth on X has detected a new feature ID that allows for an option in the Windows Settings app to include an emoji button within the System Tray of Windows 11.

Currently, the setting doesn’t perform any function, but its presence implies that Microsoft is contemplating including an emoji button directly on the Taskbar. It’s probable that this button will function similarly to the Pen Menu button, appearing in the System Tray when you write with a pen on the screen.

In the System Tray, you’ll find an emoji button that can be customized regarding its visibility. You can choose to display it only when typing in a text box, or keep it visible at all times. This button aims to make more users familiar with the Windows 11 emoji panel, which has been included in Windows since version 10 but often goes unnoticed due to being concealed behind a keyboard shortcut.

Today, you can open the emoji library by simultaneously pressing the Windows key and the period (.) button on your keyboard. This panel offers a vast collection of emojis, kaomoji, GIFs, symbols, and more at your fingertips. It’s an incredibly useful tool if you frequently use emojis or symbols, but since it’s not always obvious, many people might not know about it unless someone informs them.

Observing here, I noticed that Microsoft is planning to introduce a new button for an emoji feature directly onto the Taskbar. This button will be positioned in the System Tray, which resides on the right-side of the Taskbar. For those who prefer not to have this emoji button on their Taskbar, there’s always the option to disable it.
