Golden Globes 2025 nominees

As a seasoned film critic with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that this year’s lineup is nothing short of breathtaking. The diverse range of stories, performances, and technical prowess on display here is truly a testament to the power of cinema as an art form.

The official unveiling of the nominees for the Golden Globes 2025 marks the genuine commencement of awards season, as these selections often provide a hint about potential winners at the Oscars as well.

As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Jacques Audiard’s Spanish-language musical masterpiece, ‘Emilia Perez’, has made history with an impressive 10 nominations, making it the most nominated comedy or musical film in the awards show’s history. Following closely behind with seven nominations was Brady Corbet’s gripping A24 drama, ‘The Brutalist’. With six nominations, ‘Conclave’ also managed to make a significant impact.

2021 saw a noteworthy increase in dual nominations. Sebastian Stan received recognition in two distinct categories. One was for his portrayal of the president-elect in Ali Abbasi’s unconventional Donald Trump biopic, “The Apprentice,” and another was for his role as an actor dealing with neurofibromatosis in Aaron Schimberg’s dark comedy, “A Different Man.” Similarly, Kate Winslet was nominated in two categories. She was recognized for her work as a lead actress in the biopic “Lee” in the Drama category, and also as a Limited Series Actress for HBO’s production, “The Regime.
