Jamie Foxx Reveals He Was Hospitalized For Brain Bleed

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for personal stories that resonate deeply, I am moved by Jamie Foxx‘s bravery and resilience in sharing his medical journey. His story is a poignant reminder of the fragility and strength of the human spirit.

Jamie Foxx is sharing the details of his medical journey for the first time.

During the shooting of “Back in Action” in Atlanta, April 2023, the award-winning actor fell ill mysteriously; an incident later revealed to be a brain hemorrhage that eventually developed into a stroke.

On April 11th, I was grappling with a crushing headache and turned to my trusted companion for help, asking him to fetch an Aspirin. In that moment of crisis, it struck me how clueless they can be when faced with a medical emergency, as I expressed during my Netflix special, What Had Happened Was, on Dec.10, according to People. Before I could even snap my fingers for the Aspirin, I found myself fading away. I’m afraid those 20 days that followed are now a blur.

Ray, in his own words, mentioned that he was persistently plagued by a headache. Concerned, his friends escorted him to a physician who administered a cortisone injection for the discomfort. Yet, it was Jamie’s sister, Deidra Dixon, who suspected something amiss. She whisked him away to Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, where he would ultimately receive his alarming diagnosis.

Right here, it was you all who miraculously saved my life at Piedmont Hospital. They skillfully pieced me back together,” I shared with the gathering, also addressing my sister, “She may not have known anything about Piedmont Hospital, but she had a strong intuition that help – perhaps even divine intervention – resided within.

Additionally, Jamie mentioned that even though his health incident ended well, he encountered challenging moments. For instance, when he first arrived at the medical center, a doctor shared some distressing information with Deidra regarding her brother.

Jamie stated, “He’s experiencing a brain hemorrhage which is causing a stroke. If we don’t act quickly and perform surgery on him immediately, he might not survive.

He added that Deidra “knelt down outside the operating room and prayed the whole time.”

Though they weren’t able to identify the source of the injury, the former star of “The Jamie Foxx Show” mentioned that his sister was informed her path to recovery would be challenging and prolonged.

According to what the medical professional told Deidra, they hadn’t identified the source, but he was experiencing a stroke. There’s hope for a full recovery, but this is likely to be the most difficult year of his life.

Jamie added, “That’s what it was Atlanta. You finally got the story. You saved my life.”

In an emotional recollection, the actor who played the lead role in “Django Unchained” shared his experience of being bedridden for three weeks after surgery, and then having to learn basic skills like walking and talking again during his recovery stay at a rehab facility in Chicago.

Jamie shared that he can’t recall the 20 days preceding May 4th, but on that day he woke up and discovered himself in a wheelchair. He was unable to walk at this time and was confused, asking himself why he found himself in such a situation. Essentially, he had just emerged from a difficult period in his life.

Jamie acknowledged that it was his family, comprising his sister and daughters Corinne Foxx (aged 30) and Anelise Bishop (16 years old), who helped him maintain the privacy surrounding his health situation.

Jamie, feeling a wave of emotion, confided, ‘They didn’t want you to perceive me in that light, and neither did I. Instead, I wish for you to behold me as I am now.’

During his stay in the hospital, it remained unclear what Jamie’s health situation was. In July 2023, the singer known as “Unpredictable” addressed his fans for the first time via camera, expressing gratitude towards his family and dismissing health-related rumors. A mere five months later, Jamie made a public debut when he received the Vanguard Award at an event hosted by the Critics Choice Association celebrating Black, Latino, and AAPI achievements in cinema and television.

In October, Jamie expressed a heartfelt message upon his reappearance on stage during a three-night performance in Atlanta, which was where he recorded his Netflix special.

He labeled a series of images posted on Instagram on October 3rd as ‘God is good.’ Sharing these photos, my heart and spirit are overflowing with unadulterated happiness…from October 3rd and 4th, I had the chance to share my perspective, and there was no more fitting location than Atlanta, Georgia.

He added, “I must express my gratitude, Atlanta. You were there, and you truly shone. It’s been 18 years since I last performed on a stage, but the stage and the audience I found here were exactly what I needed – a sea of nothing but pure love, and that’s what you all embody.
