As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt and a soft spot for steampunk and vampire-infested worlds, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia when I think about “The Order: 1886”. This game, despite its overreliance on those now antiquated QTEs, was a visual and atmospheric feast. It transported us to a vampire-rich Victorian London that teemed with imagination.
In various instances, we find an array of games with incomplete stories. Some boasted promising concepts, but fell short in execution. Given the current trend of remakes and enhancements, game creators might benefit from revisiting some of their established intellectual properties for fresh ideas. This article intends to spotlight 15 such games that could use a continuation.
The Order: 1886
Despite being criticized for its excessive use of Quick Time Events (QTEs), The Order: 1886 radiated style and ambiance. Its steampunk narrative, populated with vampires in a Victorian London setting, showcased a rich imagination. While it may have been its own downfall due to high expectations, there’s enough substance here to warrant a follow-up. Interestingly, the developer Ready at Dawn was later acquired by Meta, and Sony even revived the franchise as recently as December 2021. So, a VR sequel could very well be in the cards.
