Emmerdale airs troubling Cain and Moira Dingle update in ITVX episode

As a long-time Emmerdale enthusiast who’s seen more than my fair share of Dingle family drama, I must say this latest twist between Moira and Cain has taken the cake. It seems like every time these two find some semblance of peace, fate (or perhaps the writers) throws another curveball their way.

Alert: The Emmerdale episode airing on the 11th of December, 2024, which you can stream on ITVX, includes plot twists that have been kept under wraps. Proceed with caution if you don’t want the ending spoiled!

The marriage between Moira (Natalie J Robb) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is once again facing a critical juncture on Emmerdale, with him persistently concealing a troubling truth.

During the time when Moira was having surgery for her brain tumor, Cain found himself in an unexpected romantic entanglement with his sister-in-law, Ruby Fox-Miligan (played by Beth Cordingly). Since then, he’s been grappling with the fallout and guilt from this betrayal.

Moira returned from the hospital, secretly preparing a late 50th birthday celebration for Cain, unaware that he had actually stayed at home that night, concealing the truth by claiming he was off on a business trip instead.

While waiting for her test results at the hospital, Moira urged her son Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) to return to the farm, as she believed that Cain was about to arrive momentarily.

The consultant postponed Moira’s meeting for as long as possible, yet with Cain being absent, she ended up learning the recent updates about her health without his presence.

In the end, Cain accidentally hit Jai Sharma’s (Chris Bisson) vehicle since he was trapped and had to hurry over to Moira.

He was soon arrested by PC Mike Swirling (Andy Moore), who eventually allowed him to contact his worried wife.

In a cellphone conversation with Cain, Moira felt enraged, yet she deceived him by claiming that her findings were satisfactory.

Following a night spent at the station, Cain received news from Swirling that Jai decided not to file charges. Swirling suggested Cain reach out for help, sharing that his own aunt had experienced a similar condition – a brain tumor.

However, rather than heading back home, Cain opted to get intoxicated in his allotment. It was there that his friend, Doctor Liam Cavanagh (played by Jonny McPherson), found him with worry.

Liam brought Cain home to help him sober up first, then left him with Butler later on. Seeing Cain in such a state, Moira was filled with concern, and he shed tears while expressing remorse for his mistake, preparing to admit about his indiscretion.

However, before he could utter a single word, Moira confessed that she hadn’t told the truth about her recent hospital stay. In fact, she had been diagnosed with an unusual form of meningioma, which isn’t cancer per se, but due to its atypical nature, she would require radiotherapy as a precautionary measure in case it recurs in the future.

As Cain faltered, Moira bitterly lamented that she couldn’t depend on him for the crucial help she urgently required.

Will Cain be there for Moira when she needs him most, or will their relationship shatter irreparably due to his unfaithfulness?
