As a long-time fan of Disney classics and their timeless charm, I must say that I am genuinely thrilled to see these beloved stories coming to life again, albeit in a modern way. The fact that some of today’s most talented actors and directors are breathing new life into these timeless tales is nothing short of magical.
If you’ve got a dream to see a new version of Tangled, we’ve got some good news for you.
Reports suggest that the original live-action adaptation of the 2010 Disney animation is being developed, with Michael Gracey (known for directing The Greatest Showman) in discussions to take the director’s chair. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who wrote Thor: Love and Thunder, is working on the script.
As of now, there’s no specific storyline known, but Deadline hinted that the script will likely mirror the animated Tangled movie, featuring stars like Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, and Donna Murphy.
Regarding music in the live-action adaptation, it remains undecided whether or not composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater will return to create new songs. They were jointly nominated for an Oscar in 2011 for Best Original Song with “I See the Light.
Who will play Mandy’s Rapunzel and Zachary’s Flynn Ryder in the upcoming production? Although the casting decisions are not yet public, Mandy has her own suggestions for who could bring Rapunzel’s legendary hair to life: Sabrina Carpenter.
In an interview with Elite Daily in July, Mandy stated, “From fifty feet away, she has hair that seems endless, or so it seemed to me. She appears as if she stepped right out of a Disney fairy tale in person.
Additionally, the actress from “This Is Us” also came up with a concept for her own involvement in a real-life adaptation of the animated film, “Tangled”.
Perhaps I could play the role of Rapunzel’s mother,” the woman of forty mused aloud. “Let’s collaborate on a heartfelt duet, composed exclusively for us. We can pen an original tune that speaks to our disparities and the challenges faced by young individuals navigating today’s world.
Furthermore, regarding Flynn’s renowned charisma and smoldering gaze, Zachary too thought of a specific individual, proposing Timothée Chalamet for the part.
Zachary quipped to Entertainment Tonight in July, “Well, he seems to land every other role,” implying he feels overshadowed due to his age and lack of familiarity with some of today’s younger actors who might fit the part.

Barry Jenkins recently unveiled a sneak peek at his upcoming movie, a spinoff of The Lion King titled Mufasa: The Lion King, due for release in 2024, following the 2019 remake of the original film. At D23 in 2022, Jenkins confirmed that Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will reprise their roles as Timon and Pumbaa respectively.
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to share an intriguing perspective: “Mufasa, as you may not know, was once a young cub who lost his family and had to find his way through life on his own,” I mention. This tale, when unfolded, offers us a profound insight into the heartwarming odyssey of how Mufasa discovered his role within the grand scheme of the Circle of Life.
