Tetris and Tetris DX Now Available on Nintendo Switch Online

As a child of the ’80s and avid gamer, I can attest that the joy of Tetris has been a constant companion throughout my gaming journey. While the original NES version is a must-play for any retro enthusiast on Nintendo Switch Online, I must say, my heart skips a beat for the classic remaster, Tetris DX.

If you’re not particularly interested in getting “Tetris Forever” and prefer playing the original version instead, great news! The classic “Tetris” for the NES is now accessible on Nintendo Switch Online. On the other hand, “Tetris DX” is also up for grabs if you’re a subscriber to their service.

As an enhanced version of Tetris, released in 1998 for Game Boy Color, Tetris DX was highly praised by both critics and fans. It introduced the traditional Marathon mode, where players aim to clear lines as long as they can, and two new modes – Ultra and 40 Lines. The Ultra mode sets a three-minute time limit and challenges you to score the highest points before the time runs out.

In summary, it offers you a challenge to clean up within 40 moves, with an added element of speed. Additionally, it allows for gameplay against the computer, and even more excitingly, it saves your top scores using the built-in battery, which was quite innovative back then.

Have a look at the video trailer provided below, where the game’s creator, Alexey Pajitnov, shares his insights about the games and discusses the significant role that fans played in their achievements.
