As a seasoned gamer who’s been around since the days when the PSP was still a shiny new toy and the PS3 was just starting to show its might, I can’t help but feel a mix of nostalgia and excitement upon hearing about the return of Class of Heroes 3. Back in 2010, I was just a young lad, fresh out of high school, dreaming of the day when I could graduate from my own class of heroes. Alas, the game never made it west, leaving me to wonder what adventures awaited within its hallowed halls.
Originally released for both PlayStation 3 and PSP two console generations back, the long-awaited return of an initially exclusive PlayStation title has been announced for 2025. Surprisingly, this upcoming remaster won’t be limited to PS5 but will also be available on Nintendo Switch and PC platforms. As of now, there’s no information regarding a PS4 version or the possibility of the remaster appearing on Xbox consoles.
The game under discussion was released in the year 2010, a time when numerous popular titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, Red Dead Redemption, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Mass Effect 2, God of War III, Xenoblade Chronicles, Halo Reach, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, LIMBO, Rock Band 3, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Super Meat Boy, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, Bayonetta, Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver, BioShock 2, and many more games were also launched.
In 2010, exclusively in Japan, there came out the third installment of the Class of Heroes series, titled Class of Heroes 3. Initially planned for both PSP and PS3 release, its Western edition was unfortunately canceled.
15 years from now, I’m eagerly looking forward to a remastered version of the game, slated for release in 2025 across various platforms. Although the exact release date beyond 2025 hasn’t been disclosed yet, an announcement trailer has been unveiled that you can check out below. As the trailer indicates, this remaster is being developed by Acquire and will be published by PQube.
The wait is over! After 15 years, the Class of Heroes 3 Remaster, a beloved school-themed dungeon RPG series, has arrived! Choose one of three unique schools and embark on an unforgettable adventure with your classmates in the depths of dungeons,” reads the official game pitch.
It’s not yet clear what specific aspects have been “upgraded” and “optimized” in this latest remaster compared to the original game version. More information about these changes and their cost (if any) may be disclosed closer to the release date. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether a physical release will occur, and if it does, it’s likely to be a limited edition.
