The best PC games to play
Our PC catalog spans multiple decades, making it impossible for us to enumerate every exceptional title from those times. However, we’ve compiled a list that we believe showcases some outstanding games from this year and the more recent past.
As a connoisseur of digital entertainment, I must share my enthusiasm for the eclectic collection of games at our disposal. From the strategic turn-based role-playing games that transport us to fantastical realms, to the heart-pounding racing games that simulate the thrill of high-speed competition, we’ve got a little something for every taste!
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
In the thrilling Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, I find myself once again donning the legendary hat and cracking the whip. The creators of the contemporary Wolfenstein series have crafted this exhilarating action-adventure, making me feel as if I’m embodying the spirit of Indiana Jones himself.
Balatro
Balatro’s unique deck-building game, the roguelike action card game, has been sweeping across the globe, leaving many gamers listing it as their game of the year.
Star Wars Outlaws
Although it received a mix of reviews initially, after substantial updates, Star Wars Outlaws is now strongly suggested for those seeking stylish Star Wars antics on a PC. This game exudes charm.
Baldur’s Gate 3
It’s not unexpected, considering the numerous accolades Baldur’s Gate 3 garnered at the Golden Joysticks and The Game Awards in 2023.
In simpler terms, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a role-playing game (CRPG) that takes place within the universe of Dungeons & Dragons. This game provides an exceptional level of flexibility and choice for players.
You suddenly find yourself on a Nautilus-like vessel that’s plummeting, and soon realize a Mind Flayer parasite has invaded your body, transforming you into one of them in the near future.
Following is an epic role-playing game journey filled with captivating characters, nerve-wracking strategic turn-based battles, and plenty of spicy interactions.
Lethal Company
If you’ve been active on social media, you may have come across a brief video showing players experiencing a comical downfall while trying to satisfy their superiors in the game called “Lethal Company”.
Zeekerss exclusively created Lethal Company, a game where as many as four players (or even more with modifications) battle against each other in progressively hazardous alien landscapes teeming with fearsome creatures. The objective is to gather scrap and transport it back to their spaceship to meet the demands of ruthless corporations.
One way to rephrase that statement in a more natural and easily understood manner could be: “What sets Lethal Company apart is its extraordinary proximity chat feature, leading to hilarious (and chilling) instances where players abruptly shout and vanish.
Alan Wake 2
Once again, Remedy has excelled, earning acclaim not only at the Golden Joysticks but also at The Game Awards in 2023, acknowledging their dedication and effort.
13 years following the initial storyline, gamers find themselves assuming the roles of both the titular character, Saga Anderson, and a renowned author, as they delve into “The Dark Place”, a realm where the character from the first game, Mr Wake, has been confined since the previous events.
In Alan Wake 2, the visuals are spectacularly intense, and the experiences are genuinely chilling, giving an impression that the game is perpetually distorting and twisting the world around us. It proudly wears influences from television show Twin Peaks and Stephen King novels right on its surface.
Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon
Instead of its typical gloomy fantasy dialogue (and foul marshlands), FromSoftware decided to revisit the mech combat simulation series – and we’re thrilled they did, as Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon is one of the standout titles of 2023.
In contrast to previous FromSoftware games, a significant focus was given to the PC version of AC6, ensuring it performs flawlessly and reaches up to 120 frames per second. Unlike titles like Elden Ring and other Souls series, which were strictly limited to 60 frames per second in the past.
Ranked matchmaking was recently added, too, so you can expect some intense fights online.
The story unfolds on the border planet, Rubicon 3, approximately fifty years following a devastating cosmic incident called the Fires of Ibis which caused widespread destruction in the star system, after humankind had expanded across the stars.
Previously elusive material named Coral was the origin of a past incident, and firms had attempted to utilize its potency prior to that event. Now, remnants of this substance have reappeared at Rubicon 3, causing corporations to rush there in hopes of exploiting and dominating it, disregarding any potential harm to the planet and its people.
In this scenario, you assume the role of pilot C4-621, overseen by handler Walter, and find yourself amidst a turbulent situation filled with both insurgents and hired guns.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty
Even though it had some initial difficulties, Cyberpunk 2077 has significantly improved due to the introduction of updates 2.0 and 2.1, which have made substantial changes throughout the game.
The Phantom Liberty DLC is incredible, too, and adds hours of new content to the already beefy game – and even features Idris Elba!
In the game universe of Cyberpunk 2020, players assume the role of V, a hired gun who’s been implanted with a bio-chip holding the consciousness of Johnny Silverhand, a former rock-star-turned-terrorist (Keanu Reeves), following a botched heist.
In the game, the Engram could potentially overwrite V’s individuality, and it’s up to you, in collaboration with Silverhand, to free yourselves from each other’s control amidst the gritty setting of Night City.
If your system can handle it, the game appears incredibly realistic because of its overdrive ray-tracing feature which enhances the lighting effects.
Diablo 4
A truly fulfilling character development – Since its debut, Diablo 4 has significantly improved, making the experience of slaughtering legions of demons more enjoyable than ever before.
For beginners joining this established franchise, you’ll have the chance to select a class and create a unique character with various skills to combat the armies of Lilith. You’ll traverse vast dungeons, open landscapes, and devastated settlements as you fight back her forces.
The arrival of each new season has introduced a wealth of fresh game content, while the majority of updates have addressed and rectified balance problems.
Additionally, there’s an upcoming expansion pack for the action role-playing game (ARPG) that will undoubtedly expand its reach, making the Sanctuary all the more dangerous than it currently is.
Counter-Strike 2
In place of CS:GO, Counter-Strike 2 serves as its successor and effectively takes over, promising a continuation of the familiar 5v5 round-based strategic excitement that we’ve grown accustomed to for the past two decades – and there’s no sign of it becoming old-hat just yet!
Utilizing the sophisticated Source 2 engine, as seen in Dota 2 and Half-Life: Alyx, CS2 boasts a significantly brighter and more refined appearance compared to the rather outdated and gritty aesthetics of CS:GO.
With this innovation, spotting adversaries becomes more straightforward. The novel technology introduces intriguing extras like volumetric smoke grenades, which expand into three-dimensional spaces. These can be penetrated for a swift look or eliminated by explosive grenades.
What’s more, it’s free and will only cost you your time (and potentially your sanity).

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
In a remarkable move, Massive Entertainment has significantly enhanced their already impressive Snowdrop Engine, resulting in breathtaking, almost unreal visuals displayed in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
In this game, you assume the role of a Na’vi character who was brought up by humans and has managed to break free from the grip of the corrupt RDA. You’ll utilize both Na’vi and human abilities to lead a rebellion against the oppressive military corporation on the western continent of Pandora.
Despite some initial resemblance to Far Cry, it shares more characteristics with Crytek’s Crysis, given that your abilities exceed human limitations within a lush jungle setting.
If you prefer a more open-ended exploration experience rather than the traditional Ubisoft open-world format with marked objectives, try activating the “Explorer Mode”. This setting will provide you with general guidelines instead of specific destinations, allowing you to delve deeper into the vast map, much like players did in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.
Elden Ring
It’s no surprise that Elden Ring gained such widespread popularity given the numerous perfect 10/10 review scores it received. Even though its initial success might not have been foreseen, it certainly exceeded expectations when it was launched.
This large-scale game finds an ideal match with the PC, however, be mindful that death occurs often here. Additionally, you might find yourself feeling the strong impulse to break something now and then.
Fortnite
It may not be everyone’s first thought when considering top-tier PC games, but in truth, Fortnite is indeed among them, as attested by its massive player base.
Fortnite has expanded well beyond its initial concept of a survival game, now serving primarily as a hub for various games or what could be considered an interconnected virtual world, akin to a universe of gaming experiences.
Of course, besides the popular Battle Royale gameplay, there’s also the cooperative Player versus Environment (PvE) mode called Save the World, as well as some new additions such as LEGO Fortnite for a creative twist, Rocket Racing for a survival challenge, and the festive Fortnite Festival Mode.
You’re bound to find something to like in Fortnite, and it’s free – so definitely check it out!

Stray
If you haven’t experienced it yet, Stray is a unique game that allows you to explore a post-apocalyptic world as an adorable cat, with lonely robots serving as your companions. This game, which is being considered for Game of the Year, stands out not only for its cleverness and emotional depth but also for its heartwarming storyline. If you’re a cat enthusiast, this game is definitely worth playing!
Stray offers an aesthetically pleasing gameplay, performs smoothly, and delivers an exceptional gaming experience. Spending a few enjoyable hours playing it on your computer would be an excellent choice.
Valheim
As a passionate film buff might say about a captivating classic flick, Valheim’s enchanting, vintage-style visuals and intricate gameplay dynamics had me hooked from the get-go. And to my delight, it’s just grown more engaging since its debut!
In a mystical Viking realm, you can either embark on an adventure alone or join forces with allies, navigating a harsh, unrelenting Nordic landscape that seems determined to claim your life.
In this world, there are ominous superiors waiting around corners, but you have the chance to create a comfortable hideout as a refuge following a brave expedition into the untamed wilds.
Not only is it quite affordable, but you’ll also enjoy countless hours of amusement from it. We wholeheartedly suggest you give it a try!
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
In the latest development, the eccentric and unpredictable character from Borderlands, Tiny Tina, is set to star in another spin-off titled Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. This time, it’s not just a spin-off but an entire game, and one that promises to be top-notch!
Though it wasn’t perfect, it turned out to be far superior than most of us anticipated, making it truly worthy of inclusion in this collection.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
As a cinephile, I’d say it speaks volumes when a video game adaptation manages to surpass certain aspects of the movies it’s inspired by – and that’s exactly what LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga does exceptionally well.
This is the definitive LEGO Star Wars game, and is truly a joy from start to finish. It’s so good that it even made us like Rise of the Skywalker a bit more (but not by much).
Galactic Civilisations 4
Although not ideal for a casual, light-hearted gaming experience, Galactic Civilizations 4 offers a deeply satisfying experience if you’re willing to invest time and thought to fully immerse yourself in it.
In this situation, it’s crucial to approach things strategically. Maintain a strategic perspective throughout the process, and it could very well become your newest fascination.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human
If you’re a fan of zombie lore or parkour-style movement, Dying Light 2 is sure to provide an unforgettable gaming experience. This massive game offers plenty of activities and a multitude of infected creatures eager to challenge you.
This game is thrilling, exciting, and performs exceptionally well on personal computers. Even if you haven’t played the first installment, you can effortlessly join in, which also gives you an additional game to enjoy if you find this one engaging.
God of War
Now that God of War Ragnarök is out, it’s an ideal moment to delve back into the initial game in the rebooted series, or embark on it for the first time if you haven’t. Given that Ragnarök’s storyline depends on the previous game, it would be beneficial to experience it before diving into the sequel. So, why wait?
This captivating game offers compelling plot development, intriguingly developed characters, and enjoyable game mechanics that draw us back repeatedly, making it a title we highly recommend playing often.

Monster Hunter: Rise
Could it be possible that the latest addition to Capcom’s Monster Hunter series is being hailed by many as the best one yet? It’s difficult to disagree, given its exceptional quality, which continues to captivate us time and again.
This game garnered well-deserved acclaim, and we’re thrilled by its seamless performance upon starting on a PC. We wholeheartedly endorse this game without reservation.
Total War: Warhammer 3
Among the crown jewels of turn-based strategy games, Total War once again graced our computer screens with Total War: Warhammer 3, delivering an experience that exceeded all expectations.
This is truly a brilliant and addictive game, so be warned, it has the potential to eat up a lot of your time!
Halo Infinite
It’s common knowledge that Halo Infinite faced various challenges during its creation, as suggested by numerous reports. The anticipation was high to produce an exceptional game, given the underwhelming reception of Halo 5.
Fortunately, Halo Infinite surpassed expectations and marked a genuine comeback for Master Chief. If you felt disengaged from the series, this game offers an excellent opportunity to rejoin the action.
The multiplayer mode for Halo Infinite is now free, and it’s making a resurgence lately due to reports that several problems initially encountered have been rectified.
Forza Horizon 5
Moving on to popular Xbox series for a bit, it’s worth noting that Forza Horizon 5 stands out as the most visually impressive among them so far – given that it’s the first one developed specifically for this console generation.
In Forza, the backdrop of Mexico is just as breathtaking as anticipated, and there’s an abundance of activities to engage in, even months after its launch – if you’re a fan of racing games, this should be an obvious choice for you.
Football Manager 2024
For a long time now, Football Manager series has consistently held its ground without showing any signs of decline. Just like previous iterations, we found immense enjoyment in the most recent installment.
Prepare your teams thoroughly, let’s hope we gather enough points to ensure the continuation of our professional journey!
