Horizon Zero Dawn Just Got a Major New Feature 7 Years Later

As a long-time fan of Horizon Zero Dawn, it feels like coming home to see this game getting the love and attention it deserves, even seven years after its initial release. The addition of transmog functionality is a welcome feature that I’ve been eagerly anticipating since I first set foot in the post-apocalyptic world of Aloy.

Seven years after its debut on PlayStation 4, Horizon Zero Dawn received a significant update, following the launch of its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, in 2022. Dubbed Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, this upgrade became available for PC and PS5 users in October, breathing fresh life into the seven-year-old open-world role-playing game.

Today, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on both PC and PS5 received updates: Patch 1.04 for PC users and Patch 1.08 for PS5 gamers. Each update introduces a significant new element. For the first time in the game, transmogrification (transmog) capabilities have been incorporated, allowing players to customize Aloy’s armor with a new appearance.

To use this fresh addition – where you can alter the visuals of your equipment without affecting its performance – navigate to your Inventory, then to the outfits section. Pick the appearance you prefer to display in-game by clicking “apply look” on the chosen outfit. This will overlay the selected appearance onto your existing armor, preserving the stats of your current gear.
