As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for gritty Mafia tales, I must say the trailer for Mafia: The Old Country has me thoroughly intrigued. Having played my fair share of games set in the underworld, I’ve come to appreciate the complexity and depth these narratives can offer.
A sneak peek at the trailer for “Mafia: The Old Country” was expected to be premiered during The Game Awards, but unfortunately, it got leaked beforehand. During the event itself, the trailer was indeed officially revealed, providing a fresh glimpse into the upcoming action-adventure game.
In contrast to its previous installments, “Mafia: The Old Country” is designed to offer a sequential, or linear, gaming experience. This title, characterized as narrative-driven, introduces a fresh protagonist named Enzo and is set in 1920s Sicily, where it will narrate the origins of organized crime through an engaging ensemble of new characters, shedding light on their roles in this criminal underworld.
Following years spent toiling in the sulfur mines of Sicily during his childhood, Enzo takes a vow and affiliates himself with the crime clan led by Don Torrisi. As one could expect, events become increasingly complex and brutal over time.
According to Nick Baynes, president of Hangar 13, “Mafia: The Old Country” serves as a heartfelt tribute to traditional, rough-around-the-edges Mafia tales. The team at Hangar 13 is dedicated to crafting the most genuine and intense narrative in the series, and they’re eager for players to embark on this journey alongside Enzo.
Mafia: The Old Country launches in Summer 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
