Among the fantastic highlights of Geoff’s performance last night, Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet stood out to me. Although I could play Uncharted and The Last of Us series endlessly, I’m thrilled at the thought of Naughty Dog venturing into uncharted territory with this new project. It boasts a pristine 80s sci-fi aesthetic blended with real-world branding, stunning in-game cinematics, and an original score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross – frankly, I can hardly believe it!

As a gaming enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement about diving deeper into its bounty hunter storyline. I’m also intrigued to witness how ND plans to deliver what appears to be a close-combat gameplay style. With their exceptional narrative skills that brought us the profound stories in The Last of Us Part 2, a masterpiece among third-person shooters, I’m all geared up and eagerly waiting to experience whatever magic they have brewing here.

Although numerous announcements at The Game Awards last night were astounding and thrilling, it seems that I could guess fairly well about how each one would play, with the exception of Project Robot by genDESIGN, the creators of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

I am thrilled about the highly acclaimed team making a comeback after a prolonged hiatus, which has instantly catapulted them to the top of my list of most eagerly awaited releases. Their foray into the realm of science fiction sparks immense curiosity in me, and the mystery surrounding their gameplay mechanics means the final product could take so many fascinating turns.

It’s taken quite some time, but I’m certain the delay will prove valuable; after all, not knowing about Project Robot makes it the most thrilling scenario imaginable.

Surprisingly, I’m not choosing The Witcher 4 as my game of the show. This might be due to the fact that its existence wasn’t exactly a secret – not referring to the trailer (which is fantastic), but the project itself was already announced beforehand.

Among all the announcements, Project Century was the one that struck a chord with me the most. As a die-hard fan of Like a Dragon / Yakuza series since the PS3 era, I’ve always admired RGG Studio’s work. Although I’ll never tire of this franchise, I’ve been eagerly waiting for them to explore new projects for quite some time now.

As a die-hard fan, I must admit that Project Century is bound to share some similarities with the team’s past adventures. However, what grabbed my attention in the trailer was the unique setting, the intense tone, and the level of violence – elements that have me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating more. Moreover, it seems like we might be looking at a next-generation RGG title here. So, let them continue to craft this masterpiece!

It’s my belief that the Mafia series has been underestimated since its initial release in 2002. The original game, released on PS2 in 2004, was often criticized alongside GTA, despite being more cinematic and deliberate in nature. This comparison wasn’t fair to Mafia. The same issue arose with Mafia 2, and while I felt Mafia 3 was somewhat repetitive, I believe its innovative concepts were overshadowed by this repetition.

In a year that anticipates GTA 6’s dominance in open-world gaming, Mafia: The Old Country promises something truly unique with its setting in Sicily during the 1900s. It seems poised to offer a distinctive experience, particularly with its historical context and emphasis on narrative. Although I require more gameplay footage to be completely assured, the trailer for The Game Awards left an impressive impression on me.

Josef Fares, known for his vibrant and sometimes boisterous demeanor within the industry, has a reputation that is somewhat controversial. However, the quality of his games is so exceptional that he can afford such a persona. The games from Hazelight Studios, such as A Way Out and It Takes Two, offer distinctive, diverse, and enjoyable cooperative experiences, and it appears that Split Fiction could be their most impressive work to date.

This game boasts an unusual concept, providing a mix of diverse playstyles and visuals. The sneak peek reveals multiple stages, each with innovative concepts. Given the quality of their past productions, I anticipate the game will shine in every aspect. Whether the narrative can keep pace with such creative design remains to be seen, but I’m genuinely thrilled by the preview — with just a few months left before release.
