Teen Mom's Amber Portwood Returns to Instagram After Year-Long Break

As a close observer of the lives of these young women, I am deeply moved by their journeys. Each one of them has faced unique challenges and obstacles, yet they continue to persevere and grow.

Amber Portwood has returned to Instagram.

The “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter” star recently posted on social media for the first time in a year, suggesting her eagerness to reignite connections with her fans by maintaining a more active online presence.

She titled a picture of herself with a gold-edited cat on December 12 as “Hi everyone!”, marking her return after a one-year hiatus from social media.

Amber’s latest post on December 30, 2023, expressed her gratitude as the year drew to a close. In this post, the 34-year-old shared a meme featuring herself and penned a heartfelt message thanking everyone for their support throughout the year. She acknowledged the numerous lessons she’d learned and expressed eagerness for the opportunities that 2024 would bring, standing alongside her supporters.

Despite a quiet Instagram presence this year, Amber has kept her TikTok active with regular updates throughout 2024.

Back in November, I shared a radiant golden image of myself on TikTok, embodying the beauty of my inner self. Accompanying the post was a message reflecting the softness of a heart of gold, as well as the resilience that comes with being strengthened by such experiences: “We know who carries a heart of gold within and who mirrors the hardened strength of gold too. Sending you all my love and positive vibes.

In other TikTok posts, the MTV celebrity (mother of Leah Leann Shirley, 16, with ex Gary Shirley, 38, and James, 5, with ex Andrew Glennon) has been posting mysterious updates without revealing much about her current activities.

On social media platforms, Amber, who received a diagnosis for bipolar and borderline personality disorders in 2011 and openly shares her mental health experiences, frequently posts selfies, amusing filters, photos of her cats, as well as motivational messages.

In a different part of TikTok, the MTV celebrity, who has a 16-year-old daughter Leah Leann Shirley with ex Gary Shirley (38) and a 5-year-old son James with ex Andrew Glennon, has been posting cryptic updates that don’t reveal much about her current activities.

Amber, who’s had bipolar and borderline personality disorders since 2011 and openly shares her mental health experiences, regularly posts a mix of selfies, playful filters, cat pics, and inspirational quotes on the platform.

Regarding my ex, I must clarify something that’s been misconstrued: “I have no idea what actions led to this situation,” I explained, having parted ways with him not too long after his return. People were accusing me of being a murderer, and they claimed I took his life. However, this is far from the truth.

In September, she titled a picture of herself wearing blue silky pajamas, “Let’s start anew tonight. I could use a refresh.” A few weeks later, she posted a photo of herself grinning and wrote, “There’s nothing quite like a morning shot when you’re in the manic phase of bipolar disorder.

2021 hasn’t been a walk in the park for the reality television personality. In the final episode of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Amber openly expressed her emotional response to the rumors about her fiancé, Gary Wayne, who mysteriously vanished for a week in June.

On that day’s episode of MTV, she cried out, expressing frustration: “He just up and left without a word,” she said. “Why am I being accused? They claim I’m the one who took his life. Can you imagine what it’s like to be branded as a murderer, over someone you were going to marry?

As for me, despite being apart from him following his recent comeback, I remain clueless about any actions that might have led to such accusations. They’ve been labeling me as responsible for his demise, claiming I took his life.

In a later discussion with her psychologist, the mother of two shared the effects that Gary’s departure had on her.

She expressed that this situation truly embodies the feeling of heartache, it’s not solely focused on a romantic relationship. In fact, he expressed a desire for all of us – him, my family, and my child – to form one harmonious, joyful family unit.

Viewers witnessed Catelynn Lowell and her now-spouse Tyler Baltierra grapple with a challenging decision in 2009, as they chose to place their firstborn daughter, Carly, for adoption during the debut season of “16 and Pregnant”. After being together for 13 years, these beloved TV personalities tied the knot in August 2015. Since then, they have welcomed three more daughters into their family: Novalee, Vaeda, and Rya.

Even though the lack of Carly (living with her adoptive parents Brandon and Teresa Davis) continues to be felt deeply, they cherish their meetings.

I couldn’t help but share with TopMob News the heartwarming response my younger daughters have shown towards Carly. Witnessing their affection is nothing short of amazing, and we feel incredibly fortunate that our open adoption allows us this unique perspective. Truly, it’s a blessing to observe these beautiful moments unfold over the years.

In just under six months of being together, viewers watched as Maci Bookout grappled with an unreliable Ryan Edwards on the show ’16 and Pregnant’. Despite getting engaged, this high school sweetheart duo separated less than a year after their son Bentley was born in 2008.

Currently, they are working towards establishing a shared parenting bond. In an interview with TopMob News in 2023, Maci disclosed, “We’re at a good point,” further explaining that Ryan has been more regular and consistent in his presence than perhaps he has been previously.

In 2012, Maci met her long-term partner, Taylor McKinney from Texas. Not long after, they started expanding their team. They were blessed with daughter Jayde in May 2015 and welcomed son Maverick the following year. Their union was formalized in October of the same year at a ceremony held in Florida.

In 2023, she shared with TopMob News about her life partner: “He’s simply my soulmate,” she said. “Despite any challenging years we may face together, I believe that at the end of the day, he remains my choice. I appreciate him. And even when I feel like I want to give him a good punch sometimes, I’d prefer to have disagreements with him or go through tough times with him than to never experience any difficulties with anyone else.

Regardless of having new partners, the stars from MTV’s The Challenge maintain a joint parental role for their child Ryder, whom they met during production.

From the very start of Cory being involved with Ryder, our main focus has been about the kind of father and parent Cory wanted to become, Cheyenne shared with TopMob News in March 2020. I made it clear that he wasn’t just going to be a dad who only showed up at Disneyland or for Instagram moments. He needed to be fully committed. It seems from the outset, he admired my approach and that’s why our co-parenting has worked so well.

Following the dissolution of our relationship in 2018, I, along with my partner, decided to take another shot at love. During my 28th birthday celebration last year, I made it official on Instagram that we were rekindling our bond. In May 2021, we were blessed with the arrival of our firstborn son, Ace, and in September 2022, we exchanged wedding vows.

In an interview with TopMob News in 2024, Cheyenne shared that the previous two years had been spent crossing items off their list. Specifically, they had longed for a baby and welcomed Ace into their family. They also wanted to get married, which they did, and fulfilled their dream of owning a house as well.

Moving forward, she expressed that she desires no actions, no goals, but rather a moment of tranquility. Her aim is simplicity itself – to find peace, contentment in the present, and to cherish our companionship. That’s all she yearns for. Nothing more.

Developing a connection during filming for the show “Ex on the Beach” might not seem like the beginning of a romantic tale, but fast forward several years and two daughters named Mila and Maya, Cory and Taylor Selfridge from “Are You the One?” continue to create ripples.

In a conversation with TopMob News in 2023, he announced that they had recently purchased a new home. He also mentioned that people have been curious about their wedding plans. He stated, “We are indeed discussing it. We’ve arranged everything except for the ring and me proposing to her. Taylor deserves this moment and it’s something we both desire. At present, we’re simply preparing the necessary steps.

After marrying Mackenzie Standifer in May 2017, Ryan sought help in rehab not long afterwards. Their first child, Jagger, was born in 2018 while Ryan was still undergoing treatment.

Despite bringing daughter Stella into their family in January 2020, Mackenzie filed for divorce three years afterward.

Despite their highly contentious relationship ending permanently in 2013, the former couple have successfully figured out a method to jointly raise their teenage daughter, Leah.

In an interview with TopMob News in January 2022, Amber shared, “We enjoy each other’s company while maintaining distance, but our bond is strong. To us, it feels like being part of a family rather than just a relationship.

Following several years as a couple, an offer of marriage and a brief experience on the show “Marriage Boot Camp,” Amber and Boston immigrant Matt Baier ended their engagement in the year 2017.

On Dr. Drew Pinsky’s podcast, Amber admitted that there came a time when she grew tired of listening and simply stopped caring in her relationship. She suspects this is what happened between herself and him. She explained that she erected a wall to protect herself from potential pain, no longer investing emotional energy into the relationship as one should.

On the set of “Marriage Boot Camp,” Amber developed feelings for crew member Andrew Glennon, eventually forming a relationship. They first appeared as a couple at the 2017 MTV Movie Awards and welcomed their first child, James, in May 2018.

But the couple separated not long after Amber was arrested for domestic battery in July 2019. And after a contentious court battle, California native Andrew was awarded sole legal and primary physical custody of their son in 2022.

The “Teen Mom” celebrity expressed to TopMob News that they’ve put in a lot of effort to enhance themselves personally and strengthen their bond with their children. They emphasized that although they’ve been open about their past struggles with drug abuse and mental health issues, everyone deserves an opportunity to make amends and not be constantly defined by their past troubles.

With unwavering resolve, I declare: “Even if your journey hasn’t been seamless, but you’ve tirelessly strived to evolve into a better, stronger, and more compassionate individual today, know that I am right there with you. I won’t back down, and neither should you. For my beloved kids, who mean the world to me, I continue to fight, and I encourage you to do the same.

Following an online encounter with Amber, Dimitri Garcia first appeared on “Teen Mom OG” in April 2020. On the program, Amber revealed details about their relationship, saying, “Dimitri is from Belgium and he’s 39, making him ten years older than me. However, he’s quite an attractive man.” She continued, “I began to trust him more, and we decided it was best for us to meet since we both felt a connection.

In April 2021, Amber publicly shared on the reunion special of “Teen Mom OG” that she was still in a relationship with Dimitri. She clarified, “We’ve been acquainted for approximately 18 months, but I haven’t met him face-to-face for a year.” Despite not making an official announcement about breaking up, Amber later introduced her new romantic interest, Gary Wayt, during a June 2024 episode of “Teen Mom: The Next Chapter.

In the autumn of 2023, after Amber matched with Gary 2.0 on a dating app, he appeared on-screen when she presented him to her fellow “Teen Mom” friends during a video call.

Despite his proposal in May 2024, their engagement didn’t last long. During her brother’s wedding in North Carolina in June, there was a disagreement between them, which led to Gary leaving suddenly, causing Amber to file a missing persons report.

And while Gary was soon located, the duo’s engagment wasn’t the only thing left broken.

Amber expressed on ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ that she endured a harrowing ordeal, believing her fiancé was deceased for approximately three to four days. She had to cope with the profound sorrow of losing him and grapple with the inexplicable question of why someone would subject her to such cruelty. At present, Amber is navigating this challenging situation.

Previously, I was solid and steadfast, but this man has shattered me. For the first time in years, I’m not feeling my usual strength, as a man has placed a ring on my finger.

After our precious little Emilee arrived in April 2015, my cherished partner Gary and I, now happily married, exchanged vows in a charming beach wedding ceremony several months later.

In his 2022 Instagram post, Gary expressed, “Your soul is incredibly radiant and beautiful, one that I am fortunate to know. I can’t imagine facing life without your presence by my side.

In her initial significant romance following the demise of her high school sweetheart, Farrah was involved with realtor Simon Saran for more than two years, with periods of on-again, off-again dating.

Despite their acrimonious parting in 2017, they made an attempt, albeit somewhat faltering, to maintain a friendship.

Simon shared with TopMob News that he holds no grudges against Farrah. He explained, “We simply come from distinct spheres. She seems to prefer a fabricated existence, while I crave authenticity. I sincerely hope she continues to thrive and achieve great success in all her future endeavors.

Jenelle Evans and Andrew Lewis, who are the parents of now-adolescent Jace, parted ways shortly following his birth in 2009. Regrettably, Jenelle has had little to no role in her son’s life since then.

Jenelle mused over the fact that Jace’s father was being discussed on a 2019 episode of Teen Mom 2. She felt empathetic towards him, but she knew his character and didn’t want him to break her son’s heart by coming and going.

A year after marrying Courtland Rogers, and giving birth to her second child, Kaiser, with former boyfriend Nathan Griffin in 2014, Jenelle tied the knot with David Eason on their North Carolina property in September 2017, eight months following the birth of their daughter Ensley.

As someone who values open and honest communication, let me share my personal experience. After navigating through a challenging period where I was falsely accused of a minor child abuse offense concerning Jace (at the time, I likened it to a smear campaign), I found myself separating from my partner. In the state of North Carolina, where I reside, divorce cannot be immediately filed; instead, one must legally separate for a year. This means demonstrating that we maintain two distinct residences as part of the process.

Recall the suave individual who once inquired from his girlfriend, Chelsea Houska, about when he could “finalize the documents regarding that error”?

Completely in the rearview.

Despite the challenges, the former Teen Mom star-turned-HGTV personality maintains a surprisingly cordial bond with her high school ex, Adam Lind, who is Aubree’s dad. She explained to Us Weekly that there’s no negativity in their relationship and it’s quite open. There are no lingering resentments, and they occasionally see each other without any issues.

In 2014, they first met in an adorable encounter at a gas station, which eventually led to their marriage in October 2016. Since then, they’ve expanded their family with the birth of their son Watson in 2017, followed by daughters Layne and Walker in 2018 and 2021. Recently, they embarked on a new venture together – their HGTV series titled Down Home Fab.

Speaking with TopMob News, Chelsea expressed her desire for any potential return to TV as something joyful, uplifting, and true to their personality. She explained that this decision felt perfectly suited for them, describing it as an exciting chance to present themselves authentically.

Initially, high school student Leah Messer and Corey Simms aimed to transform their friendship into a lifelong union, but the parents of teenage twins Aleeah and Aliannah separated just six months following their October 2010 wedding by filing for divorce.

Corey has been married to Miranda Patterson since 2013.

In the year 2012, Leah got married to Jeremy Calvert, and they had a baby girl named Adalynn the following year.

As a dedicated parent who navigated the challenges of co-parenting post-2015, I’ve found immense joy and fulfillment in nurturing my daughter. It isn’t always smooth sailing, but witnessing her blossom and share her passions is nothing short of magical. I cherish being a part of her life and the unique bond we share as a mother-daughter duo. Truly, it’s an honor to be her mom.

By 2021, when Leah made their relationship Instagram official with Jaylan Mobley, he had already won over not only Leah but also her daughters, as well.

The couple announced their engagement in August 2022, but broke up that October.

A year ago, the ‘Teen Mom’ celebrity admitted to TopMob News that she truly needed the breakup. At the tender age of seventeen, Kailyn Lowry had her first child, Isaac, with her high school sweetheart Jo Rivera, in the year 2010.

And though they split a year later, they’ve since settled into a comfortable co-parenting arrangement, Kailyn even hosting her Baby Mamas No Drama podcast with Jo’s wife Vee Torres. “We’ve come a long way since we were 18,” Kailyn wrote on X after attending Jo and Vee’s 2018 wedding. “I couldn’t ask for a better stepmom for isaac.”

Back in November 2013, I proudly became a part of Kailyn’s family when her second little bundle of joy, Lincoln, made his grand entrance. This was about a year after the radiant star of Teen Mom 2 tied the knot with Javi Marroquin, his loving father.

After parting ways in late 2016, their relationship has had its ups and downs. Javi and his girlfriend, Lauren Comeau, who are already parents to son Eli, revealed in December 2023 that they were going to have their second child, a baby girl.

Despite having sons Lux and Creed together during their intermittent relationship with Chris Lopez, Kailyn ultimately decided to part ways permanently.

In an interview with TopMob News in 2020, she shared that there is currently no communication between us. She expressed her hope that the situation improves over time, though she doesn’t have any grand plans or expectations. She doesn’t harbor any negative feelings and simply wishes for the best for our children, hoping that things resolve themselves in whatever way they may.

As I walk through life, I find myself deeply rooted alongside my partner, Elijah Scott. Unlike previous relationships and the fathers of my children, Elijah stands out as a pillar of stability. “He’s unlike any other,” I shared with People magazine, discussing Elijah, father to my son Rio and twins Verse and Valley.

A strong enough one that she finally said yes to one of his many proposals, in fact.

Kailyn clarified to TopMob News in September 2024 that her long-time neighbor and future spouse had proposed marriage on multiple occasions. However, she didn’t reject him outright; instead, she responded with a tentative “Yes, but not just yet.

And though she acknowledged that the construction worker “definitely changed my stance on marriage,” she’s not exactly rushing out to buy a white dress. Joked Kailyn, “How soon we get married depends on the day that you ask me now.”

A significant amount of time passed since the appearance of Briana DeJesus on the show “16 and Pregnant” and her child Nova’s birth in 2011; they considered rekindling their relationship with Devoin Austin II.

Following her stint on the one season of ‘Teen Mom 3’, Briana made her appearance in the eighth season of ‘Teen Mom 2’. In July 2017, she welcomed her second daughter, Stella, with her former partner, Luis Miguel.

Ever since then, his participation has been less than consistent at times. To put it bluntly, I’ve got this gut feeling that he yearns for a life with me – a shared family, you know? But since I’m not ready or able to provide that, it seems like he just prefers to keep a safe distance altogether. This was something I shared with Dr. Drew in our chat back in December 2019 on the Teen Mom 2 episode.
