As a seasoned gamer with a hearty PC setup and pockets as deep as the Lifestream itself, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and dread when it comes to the system requirements for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. On one hand, I’m thrilled that this iconic game is getting a modern remake, complete with the graphical fidelity I crave. But on the other, my trusty Ryzen 5 1600 and GTX 1080 Ti are starting to feel their age.
In addition to detailing some PC specifications for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Square Enix unveiled the necessary system requirements. As expected, they’re quite demanding. For instance, running the game at a resolution of 1080p with 30 frames per second on low graphics settings would require an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-8100, a Radeon RX 6600, Intel Arc A370M or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060, and 16 GB of RAM.
The recommended requirements, which allow for playing at 60 FPS/1080p and Medium quality settings, necessitate a Ryzen 5 5600, Ryzen 7 3700X, Core i7-8700, or Core i5-10400, a Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2070, and 16 GB of RAM. Finally, playing at 60 FPS/2160p at High quality demands a Ryzen 7 5700X or Core i7-10700, a Radeon RX 7900 XTX or GeForce RTX 4080, and 16 GB RAM.
To meet the optimal and advanced specifications, it’s necessary to have Windows 11 64-bit installed. For playing games at 4K resolution with low settings, a graphics processing unit (GPU) with 12GB or more is required. If you wish to use other game settings, a GPU of 16GB or more will be needed. Additionally, ensure that your solid-state drive has at least 155GB of available space for installation.
The sequel to Final Fantasy 7, titled “Rebirth,” is set to release on January 23rd, 2025, for personal computers (PC). If you’re interested, we have a review available for the PlayStation 5 (PS5) edition.
