As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the announcement of The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards was nothing short of electrifying! The cinematic trailer alone had me on the edge of my seat, eager for more.
At The Game Awards, one of the most exciting moments was the unofficial announcement of The Witcher 4. While we didn’t get to see any gameplay clips, the extended cinematic trailer provided a wealth of information. In an official trailer analysis posted by CD Projekt RED, game director Sebastian Kalemba has disclosed some of those details.
Initially, it’s important to note that what you see in the trailer truly reflects a mission within the game. The character Ciri is trying to rescue from a sacrificial ritual is named Mioni. In this adventure, the creature Ciri battles is known as the Bauk. It’s intriguing to mention that although Mioni appears to perish at the end of the trailer, Kalemba hints that she may live in the game, depending on the decisions players make during gameplay.
In the recent disclosure, Kalemba provided some insight into the game’s battle system. Notably, in the trailer’s depiction of Ciri fighting the Bauk, we observed that she employs chains in combat, and these chains can be infused with magical energies, such as fire, to amplify their potency. Moreover, Ciri, who possesses immense power from The Source, has the ability to draw energy from her surroundings and transform it into powerful enchantments for her spells.
It appears that Ciri’s enhanced combat abilities in The Witcher 4 might contribute significantly to Kalemba’s assurance of a more diverse gameplay experience and increased player control compared to the previous game. Notably, the director has indicated that the game will adhere to the continuity of all endings from The Witcher 3. Moreover, it has been confirmed that Geralt, a past main character in the series, will still be part of the storyline.
