As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen enough delays to fill a calendar. However, when it comes to GreedFall 2: The Dying World, I find myself understanding and even appreciating Spiders’ approach. After all, I’ve been in the shoes of the developers, where player feedback can be both a blessing and a curse – a blessing because it means we’re engaging our audience, a curse because it means there’s work to be done.
Last month, Spiders revealed they were postponing the Autumn update for GreedFall 2: The Dying World, specifically Update 0.2. Instead, they’re focusing on making gameplay adjustments based on player feedback, which they will release gradually rather than all at once. In a recent Steam update, the developers provided more details about this decision.
As a gamer immersed in the world of GreedFall 2, I’m excited to share that we’ve been listening closely to your valuable feedback during its early access phase. We’re planning to focus on enhancing key aspects such as combat, user interface, character customization, and much more. However, it’s important to note that these changes are significant, so they’ll be implemented gradually to ensure the best possible experience for all of us.
In our last Community Update, it was announced that we would be postponing the launch of Update 0.2. This move enables us to concentrate on incorporating substantial enhancements and corrections suggested by your valuable feedback. Key areas of focus are the combat system, UI, character customization, optimization, and numerous others.
The majority of the improvements we aim for will happen progressively. Since they require significant effort, Update 0.2 will mark the initial phase of our journey towards that ultimate objective. We can’t wait to present these enhancements to you once they are fully prepared.
Spiders is remaking the character Alvida, who will now be played by a different actor. The original dialogue for the character will also be rewritten moving forward.
As a gamer, I’ve run into a snag during the development process – we hit a roadblock when it came to recording Alvida’s lines. Regrettably, due to circumstances beyond our control, the original voice actress was no longer able to record. This left us in a pickle, as we had to take some time to evaluate and find a suitable replacement. Luckily, we’ve found a new talent who will be stepping into the role of Alvida. This means that all her lines, old and new, will need to be re-recorded to maintain consistency within the game. So, keep an eye out for changes in the cast when the next update rolls around and beyond for Alvida!
Regarding the arrival of Update 0.2, Spiders hasn’t set a definite release date just yet.
The developer explains that they can’t yet announce a release date, preferring to wait until they’re positive about it. However, they assure us that their main goal is to create a game that lives up to your expectations and incorporates your valuable input.
“GreedFall 2: The Fading Realm” is currently accessible on PC in its early release stage. Upon its official launch, the game will also be playable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
